I was at #NoKings petitioning for Green Party candidates trying to get on the November ballot.
The number of protesters, carrying signs demanding change, who blew right past me was infuriating.
I'm not saying that Green is the only way to go, but this behavior makes liberals seem unserious.

Iran's nuclear program is built with knowledge and resources. Knowledge cannot be destroyed, and resources will always be reacquired. Therefore, dropping bombs now makes nobody safer. All it does is ensure that we can drop more bombs in the future.
Diplomacy is the only sustainable way forward.

Democrats want "better training" for ICE. That's interesting, because any time an agent does something abhorrent, the higher-ups tell us that it was justifiable. So how will better training fix anything if their standard is devoid of morality to begin with?

When I say the U.S. government, I mean both state and federal, because state law enforcement has been supporting fascism rather than protecting civilians, instead serving the imperialist interests of the US of Israel.
Rev. David Black of The First Presbyterian Church of Chicago was supporting protestors and the human hostages being held by ICE at the detention facility in Broadview, IL. Protesters were met with excessive use of force. Rev. David Black was witnessed being sprayed in the face by ICE agents with chemical substances and shot with pepper balls while praying. Joselyn Walsh, an organizer for Songs for Liberation and Nourish Community Co-op, reported on Truthout that she was shot by ICE with “less-than-lethal munitions” that pierced and bruised her leg.
Meanwhile, little has been done or said by the governor, who claims to care about the people. At this point, it is evident that Illinois residents see his actions—but they do not speak louder than his words. Neither the governor’s actions nor words hold weight or demonstrate concern for constituents.
What we are seeing is performative allyship—minimal sentiment lacking conviction, paired with Democratic talking points and occasional photo ops designed for those who do not question and are conditioned to accept the bare minimum. Pretty words that sound good to those willing to consume them. Human lives are being harmed daily while law enforcement supports the actions of a lawless government, pointing guns and batons at protestors instead of protecting them. This is passive—if not covert—fascism unfolding before our eyes disguised as democratic civilian support and leadership.

Police are required to always remain polite and calm. They are bound by a strict code of conduct that ensures fairness for all. And if you're ever unsure of what you can/should do in a given situation, police will honestly advise you to the best of their knowledge.
