In the meantime, a few weeks ago, I saw 'it', I held 'it', I nearly bought 'it' but the condition wasn't quite right! One day, I will have 'it'!... ๐
Posts by PS1 Archive
This is my annual "I'm still here and want to carry on the archiving project" post! Just got a couple of other unrelated projects that are close to being finished off, then I can get back to some fun #PS1 stuff!
A photo of an OG grey slab PlayStation in from of a 14" vhs combi TV. An non-dualshock controller rests on top while two memory cards, one official and one a translucent red Bullfrog label, are plugged in.
Good morning! ๐ And happy 30th birthday of your Japanese release, you wonderful grey slab! ๐
The PlayStation has a special place in my heart, the first console that sank its claws into me in the summer of '96. So much love for this thing, the games, the demos, and the overall vibes.
An ebay listing for Martian Gothic on PS1 for 224430 euros.
I'm sorry, how much?!
The first minute of Rapid Reload (1995 AKA Gunner's Heaven)
The US market missed out on this run-and-gunner, which is a shame as it's really addictive! I only intended to play for a couple of minutes to record this footage, but ended up playing for 20! ๐

Trying to upload my "First minute of..." for Rapid Reload, but it seems Bluesky is having server hiccups. In the meantime, here is the box art of the game! I am fond of the traditional art style and how, being an early release, the lack of black banner at the bottom doesn't obscure any of it. ๐ #PS1
The first minute of Jumping Flash (1995)
I'm kinda embarrassed to say that I'd had never played this platformer before today! I found it really fun and looking forward to experiencing Robbit's full adventure at some point in the near future! ๐

One thing I love about my hobby, is that I've been there to witness nearly every moment.
BBC Micros at school, playing an 8-bit console in Beatties, getting a Game Boy, Snes vs Mega Drive, the 3D transition, moving from carts to discs, motion controls, and the HD & 4k eras.
What a ride!
The first minute of Battle Arena Toshinden (1995 Tamsoft)
(Forgive my terrible gameplay!)
For early adopters of the #PS1 this may have been their first 'true' 3D fighting game. It was impressive for the time (especially graphically) but the controls have shown their age!

The first minute of Ridge Racer (1995)
The #PS1 hit the ground running with Namco's 1993 racer. It demonstrated to the world that an arcade level experience was possible in the living room. Despite how short it is, it's still fun and fast-paced!

Hi All! Thank you so much for following me! I'm planning to recommence my PS1 collecting/archiving project here on Bluesky, but I need to get some boring real life stuff out of the way first. In the meantime I have slightly expanded my collection during the hiatus #PS1 #PSX #RetroGaming #PlayStation
I'd say the ones faced forward in that photo are personal highlights. Either because they meant a lot to me as a kid, or are tricky-to-finds in the collectors space. ๐
Thank you! And that's good to hear that the post is discoverable ๐. Still getting used to how things work on Bluesky!
Thank you! ๐
Oh wow, I see a bunch of people have already followed me here, and I haven't posted! ๐ Still getting the momentum up to continue the full PS1 collection project, but in the meantime here's the state of my collection from about a year ago ๐ (I don't think hashtags work here, but #retrogaming anyway!)
I kept promising myself to not collect regional variants of games, but I couldn't stop myself from getting the UK and Australian editions of Cricket '99! Brian Lara and Shane Warne are legends in their own right, and it wouldn't be right to leave either out! #PS1 #PSX #Retrogaming #Playstation
Been doing great thanks! Still trying to get the social media momentum going again, but Bluesky seems like a nice place for a fresh start! Hope you're doing well too!
Things aren't boding well on the other site, so I may as well have a fresh start on a new site! The urge to complete the collecting is starting to come back!
