But making it formal can be important too. E.g. if it happened before that a supervisor was disappointed in a specific situation, or even worse frustrated and aggressive about it, then probably it's a good idea not only to have regular check-ins but also to have a written record of them.

I agree those are important aspects too. Here, I think having reminders or a certain regularity is quite important, because the "original plan" always changes and keep changing as you move forward, so having regular check-ins to discuss what everybody is expecting and by when it's good.

being available when needed, offering constructive criticism as well as motivation and recognition, being humane (do not request unreasonable achievements, or expect huge personal sacrifices, respect holidays, time to rest etc.), there's probably more but this are top three to me

Split-image with the text “TO BEE or NOT TO BEE.” The left side shows a vibrant wildflower meadow with a bee on a daisy, symbolising biodiversity and a healthy ecosystem. The right side shows a dry, barren landscape with dead trees and no visible wildlife, representing environmental degradation. An EU flag appears in the bottom right corner.

Today, over 20,000 bee species are buzzing for #WorldBeeDay 🐝

Bees & other pollinators keep 80% of crop and wild flowering plants alive.

Yet, 1 in 10 bee, hoverfly, and butterfly species are now at risk of extinction in the EU.

Non-adjacent dependency processing (or lack thereof) in bonobos: an artificial grammar experiment | Royal Society Open Science A key feature of language is our capacity to process syntactic relationships between words, whether they are directly sequential (‘adjacent dependencies’) or separated by other words (‘non-adjacent dependencies’). Recent data suggest that the basic ...

Our (@maelmleroux.bsky.social et al.) paper out today in #RSOS: we tested the ability of bonobos to process 'non-adjacent dependencies'.

Surprisingly, unlike our prior work on chimps and marmosets, we found no evidence that they did so...

Support Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage Trust on Giving Day for Apes 2022 Join us on October 8th, 2022 for #GivingDayForApes – a global day of giving to support wildlife sanctuaries protecting, rehabilitating, and conserving great apes

It's 🐵Giving Day for Apes🐵 and I would warmly suggest to consider donating to @Chimfunshi. They take extra care of the rescued chimps living there, and every euro helps to get them even healthier and happier lives.
