The absolute numbers expand on the story, of course. AZ is producing more solar energy overall. But it's nice to see my little state doing its part.
Of course I see this and think "F yeah, Massachusetts"
I've been yelling this out at random the past five weeks, glad someone else got the memo
It's just technology, that can be used for good or ill... like internal combustion engines, or nuclear energy, or the Haber process. This tech can and has caused serious harm *through its use*, and your response of "well just don't use it that way" is unhelpful, to put it mildly.
The people who manage the code are, by and large, employed by the companies who own that code. So, same problem as above. What happens when a tech company has to choose between making money and doing the right thing? The track record isn't great!
"You cease, I fire"
Adjusted by whom, exactly? Will we trust the user to have the self-awareness to realize they're losing critical thinking and writing skills, and the willpower to deliberately make the algorithm less helpful? Will we trust the companies running the algorithms to make their product less addicting?
Mmmm, fish crust
I think the actual conflict here is the cultural assumption that bikes = exercise, and so hearing "cycling is a good alternative for people with disabilities" sounds like "you just need to work out more to be fixed". Especially when the supporting evidence for that is mostly from medical journals.
My ex with chronic pain rode a recumbent bike *specifically* because it felt better than driving, was more comfortable on her back and hands, and was an easy exercise that helped reduce her symptoms. Using people w/ disabilities as a shield for anti-bike rhetoric is the actual ableist move here.
I vote to sacrifice one multi-billionaire a month until the budget is balanced
In the Mario universe are positrons called walectrons
So you have the fun version of ADHD that makes you a great conversationalist at parties. Maybe high functioning autism. Cool cool. Those of us with depression, or OCD, or BPD would trade our brain shit away for normalcy in a heartbeat.
And second, I *wish* I could be neurotypical and boring! I'm currently sitting with a flavor of depression that makes it hard to get out of bed without the fear of losing my health, my relationship, or my job. I would be happier and able to actually pursue my interests if I had a normal brain.
First, I know plenty of interesting "normal" people, and plenty of boring neurodivergent ones. Lots of software engineers with autism out there who just want to cosplay being a computer! And good for them, but good luck talking to them at parties about anything other than their niche interest.
Went to a friend's house party yesterday with a bunch of poly/kinky/neurospicy guests, and the subject of neurodivergence came up as it inevitably does at these sorts of things. One woman there declared that neurodivergent communities are better because neurotypicals are just boring.
About that...
The Swamp is doing good work today.

Ok if you want to make this fucking dot go away you have to enter this menu and then physically click Go Live even if you don’t currently intend to and never fucking intend to Go Live
I'm afraid morale has not improved. I'm sure advanced Large Beating Models will be deployed by senior management soon.
When they said "we're going analog" last episode I knew I was going to feel *real* old real soon.
If I do go (Big If), I would probably get a Friday pass only. It's extremely tempting, though ...
The Seatbelts will be playing at Anime Boston this year. I might have to pop my convention cherry to see them.

Score from a color matching web game, text reads "42.46/50. Genuinely unsettling accuracy. Please find a hobby."
Okay this is pretty fun dialed.gg
I'm sorry the guy changing the rules on the fly is named what
I bet they're hoping to cause an "incident" of some sort at the polling places - arson, a shooting - that forces the polls to close while the situation resolves. Then "too late, should've voted when you had your chance." Will it work? Probably not. But keep throwing shit until something sticks.
Reminds me of a great Futurama joke...
Leela: Fry, night lasts two weeks on the moon.
Moon farmer: yep, drops down to minus one seventy three!
Fry: Fahrenheit or Celsius?
Moon farmer: first one, then the other.
