Free books, knowledge dissemination, words of wisdom, spurious Lacan quotes, and a whole load of other brilliance

This is a selective opportunity to contribute to a contracted Routledge volume at an advanced stage of development. We are particularly interested in contributions that can engage directly with the book’s conceptual framework while extending its relevance into pedagogical and institutional domains.
• pedagogy and learning
• institutional applications
• wider relevance across disciplines and sectors
We are seeking high-quality, near-complete work that can respond to a compressed editorial and review timeline.
The collection is already at an advanced stage of development, with all core chapters written and undergoing formal peer review. This targeted call seeks to strengthen the final section of the book, which addresses larp beyond the hobbyist context, with particular emphasis on:
This volume examines live action role-play (larp) as a form of lived, participatory storytelling, positioning it as a critical lens through which to rethink immersion, liveness, and experience across contemporary narrative culture.
Targeted Call for chapters : Pedagogy, Institutional Contexts, and Wider Applicability of Larp
We invite expressions of interest for 1–2 additional chapters to be included in the collection Immersion, Liveness, and the Qualities of Experience: Having a Larp.

Yes, but is there a material difference in *how* they play/perform?
It's a really good question and I don't think anyone has really answered it yet. It might just be that, or it might be something different depending on whether or not larping is the same as acting?
Are you going to Neotropolis? Do you wish there was more... futurism? Do you have a semi private space that can fit at least 4 people and want to help me run my Afrofuturist non-affiliated larp and be a part of my new line of research? Well, it's your lucky day. forms.gle/Arq9HKCPgB6J....
My body is still on London time (again, the real one.). The sky is already blue. I should stop noodling and do some work ...
Somewhere, in some other city, someone has woken up with the hangover that I deserve. I do not feel too guilty, often it has been I who has suffered thus. It is hard to switch my brain back into writing characters for B Movie, but I must, but I shall.
I have come to Athens (the proper one) to meet and talk about larp and transformative game design. Currently sitting in a marble kitchen with a coffee that I fear is slightly homeopathic. I have done morning yoga on a tiled floor with no mat because I am that hardcore.
I think because you can create a medieval encampments with tents and mud, but neon lights are more logistically complicated. That being said you might want to look at www.neotropolis.com/about
I’m interested in that. As far as larp discourse in concerned, that is where it was coined. So anything you have to suggest the word was used earlier would be interesting.

(So maybe the word -but perhaps not the concept - originated with RPG theory rather than theatre?)
The location is amazing and the designer is genuinely brilliant.

We ran one before the pandemic - just a day of talks and networking - it managed to sell out AND to be wildly unpopular at the same time :)
Yesterday was reconnecting with the worldbuilding for Adventurer's Academy which is a larp project I did some writing for in 2024 and with another run later this year:

I am a big fan of bleed. Happy to offer a definition if that helps. I am not sure that the safety tools l’ primary function is bleed management though
I think Nordic larpers struggles to define Nordic larp, although a few articles have tried. The experience of any larp is inherently subjective and most universal definitions don’t capture that. See also ‘trying to answer the question ‘what is goth?’’
A blonde woman in a white low cut dress shoots a ray gun in front of a city in shadows that is being attacked by a flying saucer. In the bottom corner a man, carrying an unconscious person cowers in fear. The text reads "Can you face the terror that is Invasion of the Atomic Space Witches." it is written in a white, sinister, 50s B Movie font. The strap line for the movie is "Beautiful ... Bewitching ... And bent on destruction." The logo in the bottom reads "Fairfax Pictures, Established 1916, California."
In June we are running a larp about making a movie. Specifically this movie:
The view - of the tide going out and the sunset over the English Channel - was rather lovely.
it took me three hours to get home afterwards, but based on the amount and quality of sleep I had last night it was definately worth it. It was not as hot as a sauna in Finland but ... it was *completely* silent - by design - with any conversation banned.
Yesterday, at the end of what would have otherwise been a working day, I went for a sauna overlooking the sea on the South coast of England. I was there for an hour other than the time when I was standing underneath a bucket of cold water or (checks notes) in an ice bath.
Oh hell no
@darkerlarper.bsky.social are you coming this year? Do you still have The Mouse ?

Who on my feed shall I see at Knutpunkt in Gothenburg? If I do not know you already, do you want to say hello?
Behind the scenes was a chunk of Javascript that takes text out of a spreadsheet and formats it ready for export to PDF AND ready for import into an Indesign Template. All in all I'd estimate about a person month of effort for which we were all paid nothing. #larpmaking
I am hoping this will cover a multitude of accessibility needs. We also made a searchable, filterable spreadsheet with everything in it. Upside to all this - it was a lot of fun to write and make - downside is that the players need to read up to 20,000 words of text.
