With 2 episodes (almost IMPOSSIBLY) of Doctor Who: The Daleks Master Plan just restored to the BBC archive, it's a good week to check out my novel about time travellers obsessed with collecting lost episodes of a (mostly) different TV show... books2read.com/time-cat/
We started at 8am, finished about 4pm. Mostly grinding belt work and sanding.
A steel kitchen knife with a wooden handle.
I made this knife from scratch last weekend, in a one day knife making course run by Tharwa Valley Forge. Quite satisfying.
Probably overheated. But you know that. There are of course lots of YouTube tricks and tips on how to remove a broken lightbulb.
A cat curled up asleep next to two pairs of rolled socks.
Proud sock hunter sleeping next to his harvest. #caturday
lol. You can opt in at 45 but they send it at 50 whether you want it or not.
You are supposed to get them every two years, starting at 50. But I haven’t received mine for 52 yet.
Wasn’t your birthday 4 months ago?
Well 2026 got to being 2026 in a big damn hurry didn't it

I’m rarely in the office any more and my friends are good about staying home when sick, so the only time I am exposed to colds these days is at conferences and workshops. That seems to mean I’m doomed to get a cold at every conference I attend, every time.
I’m in Adelaide at #modsim2025
A black and white cat on a lap. The person’s face is not visible but they are reading a book by Ngaio Marsh.
Happy #caturday
I don’t listen to much music but yes, the new Florence and the Machine album is living up to the hype.
I spent some time trimming our hedge this afternoon and my shoulders are really feeling it. Usually I pay someone to do the gardening and then spend my own time lifting dumbbells. It doesn’t really make sense, does it?
A black and white cat sitting with one arm out and his head tucked in so that the top is pressed against the person.
Happy #caturday!
This is Catrick. This is how he likes to sit on my lap — head tucked under.

Beautiful!
A bower-bird bower on the grass under a tree: an arrangement of sticks about 60-70cm across and 20cm tall, surrounded by grey-blue stones, collected pieces of glass and a piece of red litter.
Here’s a cool bower bird bower near my on-site cabin at AIMS in Townsville.
Two black and white cats, one fully stretched out on the floor, the other looking up at us from a position lying on its back on a blue rocking chair.
Happy #caturday
I’m starting HRT on Monday. I’m very hopeful that it will improve my sleep and focus, neither of which have been good lately.
Happy #caturday
All the Fellows that I have met are also nice people. Is that something that you check for?
There was a national cricketer with the same name as a kid I went to school with but I was never sure if it was the same guy. Following a loose segue, I shared a small flight with the Wallabies on Sunday.
