Carney's recent trade deals w/China are a great boon to Canada. Just what has been signed so far goes far in protecting us from the economy destroying chaos being exported from USA. We must also finalize the EV deal with China w/local manufacturing involvement in Ontario required.

Thank you to PM Carney for saying "No!" to Pres. Trump's demand that Canada hand over $25 Billion to America for defending Canada. To comply with that demand would be to simply hand over our sovereignty to the Americans. We need to do as Carney intends & increase our own self-defence capabilities.

Kudos to European nations, & Canada, who are seriously considering stationing troops in Ukraine, not to fight in the front lines but to protect Ukrainian-held communities & infrastructure against Russian aerial attacks. When we are invited in, such protection should not be limited to NATO countries.
Kudos to Jamaica for greatly tightening up its Visa restrictions for USA tourists & for foreign purchasers of property in Jamaica (most of whom are American) & for diversifying its economy away from USA. Jamaica is correctly standing up for its own sovereignty, national pride and economic future.
I am a socialist, I believe that we should improve our economy through the use of socialist measures such as Medicare, Denticare, gov't support for unions, the banning of unpaid internships, basic minimum incomes, guaranteed minimum housing, etc, etc. Achieving this requires foreign investment.
It's like with a corporation. When people invest, that is corporations, or nations, borrowing.
We borrow it from other countries of course, just like we do every year. Do you not understand how the economy works? I assure you, Carney does. Stop listening to conservative economists who are motivated by dogma more than by reason.
Trump's ending trade talks w/Canada has a very strong up-side. It strengthens the impetus to detangle our economy from the current state of over-integration w/ that of USA. It strengthens our determination to form new & stronger alliances w/other countries. In the long run it will strengthen Canada.
No matter which Canadian Party you voted for, let's all get behind this: we need to end the "Safe 3rd Country" agreement with the United States. They are no longer a safe 3rd country and have said they will deport Canadians to Guantanamo rather than back to Canada if they feel like it. #canpoli

How do you purchase a house when needed? You get some from savings & borrow the rest. Canada has more than $350 Billion in US treasury Securities & we absolutely should sell much of that off. We are also successfully building a larger & stronger economy, making it very affordable to borrow.

1/2: Kudos to Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew and Ontario Premier Doug Ford for taking serious steps toward breaking down the inter-Provincial trade barriers in Canada. This is a step towards building the single, strong Canadian economy Carney has urged on the Provinces.
This is a strong possibility. A new, stronger leader could hold the Conservatives together but Poilievre, in my opinion, has neither the strength nor the charisma to manage that.
The one bright spot in all the nonsense about Alberta separation is that essentially all the support lies within UCP voters. Those who most want to separate may form a new political party & split the right-wing, allowing NDP and/or Liberal voters to greatly expand their representation in gov't.
