Good news - the Albert Bridge has reopened for people walking & cycling.

It won't come as a surprise to many, but good to see The Times pointing out that people actually like less traffic in local neighbourhoods.
It concludes that no big change is ever introduced without some initial opposition - so leaders should stick to their guns!

Dockless ebikes have transformed cycling in London, but we need to stay on top of new technology.
AI presents all sorts of new opportunities for cycling. I can’t wait for these new AV bikes from the Netherlands to come to London 🚲

Great to see the new walking & cycling crossing on Leyton Road taking shape - helping connect up our expanding network of cycleways.
East Berlin vs City of London
What? The City of London feels like East Berlin?!?!?!?!?!?
What on earth has Lord Frost been smoking? It's little wonder we got such a crap Brexit deal.
Delighted to be working with Cllrs Mo Butt, Krupa Sheth & team
@Brent_Council to deliver Cycleway 72.
This critical route will provide a safe North Circular crossing linking Wembley Central & Harlesden - as well as huge improvements for pedestrians too ♥️

Good to see Met Police out enforcing safer speeds in Newham this morning.
Speed is a factor in over 50% of fatal collisions in London.
We’ve set up a new a Road Danger Reduction police team to make London’s roads safer for all.

👏 Great to see LCC's Women's Network and Will Norman using the event last week to continue important conversations about the work needed to make sure that 50% of London's cycle trips are taken by women 🚴♀️
❓Who said that women make the best campaigners ?
It was @willnorman.co.uk at the massive women's freedom ride in March 2024
The LCC's Women's Network is working hard to live up to that accolade !
We're transforming London. Our network of Cycleways has grown from 90km to over 430km today.
And with a network of safe cycleways, cycling is booming - with an average of 1.5m trips a day.
And there's much more to come 🚲🚲🚲

I was delighted to speak at a @londoncycling.bsky.social event about how London is fast becoming a cycling city.
I reflected that change can only be delivered with political leadership, technical expertise and - importantly - campaigning communities.
London is fortunate to have all three!
Great to see the launch of TfL's Vision Zero Action Plan 2 today. Its strength is that it is about actions (not just words) and the actions cover what's important in reducing road casualties inc. vehicle speeds, safe high streets, enforcement and traffic reduction

Have your say on plans to improve Fleet Street’s Courts and Lanes
City of London is working with the Fleet Street Quarter BID to improve walking, wheeling and spending time in the area.

Nice to see the temporary barriers being converted into permanent infrastructure for the South Chiswick Liveable Neighbourhood:
🚲cycle filter
🚶♀️🚶🚶♂️👩🦼wider pavements
🌧️sustainable drainage
🌱☘️🌻🥀🌷🌹 and planting to come!

More of London's roads will have safer speed limits because there's irrefutable evidence it saves lives:
📉 25% fewer main road collisions
📉 34% fewer people killed or serious injured on local roads
📉 75% fall in children killed on local roads
You are five times more likely to survive being hit by a driver doing 20mph vs a driver doing 30mph.
Great to see Enfield rolling out new life saving 20mph zones.
Slow down. Slower speeds save lives. #VisionZeroLDN.

Stunning new walking bridge in London’s Canada Water❤️
We're working to expand London's network of cycleways - making our streets safer & enabling more people to choose healthy, affordable & green ways to travel.
Great to see the construction work on the Cycleway 4 extension is progressing so well.
👏👏 TfL & RB Greenwich teams
Speeding contributes to half the fatal collisions on London's roads.
TfL & Met Police are trialling new radar-based speed cameras on 20mph & 30mph roads in 9 boroughs across London.
Slow down. Save Lives. #VisionZeroLDN

Great to see new protected bike lanes being built on Westbourne Terrace in Westminster 🚲🚲🚲

There's growing evidence of safety risks of bigger cars.
Heavier with higher bonnets & worse vision, bigger SUVs are:
⚠️14% more likely to kill you than if you're hit by a smaller car
⚠️increasing to 77% for children
⚠️and 200% more likely to kill a kid under 9

I'm proud of the work London has done so far to reduce road danger for everyone.
And I'm excited about delivering the vital work to ensure that we continue to cut road deaths and the trauma they bring to families & communities across the capital.

Our bold new plan sets out 43 new actions to make London's streets safer.
We're continuing with things that work - cycle lanes, 20mph etc.
But also bringing in new innovations like AI to detect dangerous driving & a new Road Danger Reduction Police Team.
We’ve made huge progress.
All the cycle lanes, crossings, LTNs, safer speeds, new vehicle tech & enforcement have saved over 250 lives.
London's streets are becoming the safest in the UK & the best among global cities.
But with 95 people killed last year, we need to do more.
Today, I was proud to join @sadiqkhanlondon.bsky.social
to launch London's bold new Vision Zero Action Plan.
Vision Zero is our initiative – with TfL, Met Police & London’s Councils - to eliminate tragic deaths & serious injuries on our streets by 2041.
Our take on TfL, Mayor, Met and boroughs' Vision Zero Action Plan 2. The top four for cycling in the video but the blog also covers news on SUVs, 20mph, dodgy driver enforcement, hit and runs and a lot more. Proud of London for this, proud of @londoncycling.bsky.social team for speedy assessment!
London Mayor Sadiq Khan launches new plan to fast-track progress towards zero road deaths by 2041.
