I'm so sorry to hear that, Chandra.

As long as they're outside, I'm cool with them. Fortunately, they don't make it up to the fifth floor where I live now--yet.
It will hereafter be known as the Fomalhaut quake....
Why, it's practically next door.
A pleasant surprise to see this one pop up!
But will it be for the better?
Beautiful! And practically in our backyard as far as these galaxies go....
Adorbs! Happy Birthday, and good to see your fave climate fiction featured in the NY Times.
"It's name is Quetzalcoatl... just call it Q, that's all you'll have time to say before it tears you apart!"
Nice. That's the first berry-less photo of a cedar waxwing I can recall seeing. I haven't seen one in the wild in close to 60 years.
Ouch is right--I thought it was gone too.
So sorry to hear that, Chandra.
Whether the universe ends in fire or ice.
My writing is em-dash-heavy, too, though it’s mostly reviews of technology projects. Our company (Ziff Davis) recently brought suit against OpenAI over such appropriation.
That is amazing, though I'm not surprised at the conclusion. I just hope that the people who fund and ultimately oversee our National Parks both realize and respect their importance to the American people.
As long as the AI doesn't insist that my hovercraft is full of eels.
Happy Indie Bookstore Day! Shop local!
The latest #DrWho ep is creepy as all get-out.
The Zooniverse is a wonderful citizen-science platform and I've participated in many of their projects. I can highly recommend them.
Print featuring a white woman holding her strong arms over the heads of three small children who look out from under with scared faces
"Seed Corn Must Not Be Ground" final lithograph of Käthe Kollwitz, 1942. The death of her son in WW1 and death of her grandson in WW2 obviously profoundly affected the artist. This print reflects the theme of a mother protecting their children from the horrors of war #WomensArt
My image from last night of NGC 4565, aka the Needle Galaxy or Berenice's Hair Clip, taken with my Unistellar Odyssey. A large spiral galaxy seen edge-on, it lies about 40 million miles from Earth in the constellation Coma Berenices (Berenice's Hair). #astrophotography

Thanks for putting yourself forward once again, sir.
"Ellie" (ELE: extinction-level event) doesn't always come from the sky. ☹️
I was today years old when I discovered that saffron comes from a domesticated variety of crocus. Actually, it takes a huge number of crocus flowers to harvest (by hand) saffron in any quantity, which is why it is so expensive.
I’m with Boston.
In the hour of darkness and peril and fear, let’s all channel a little Paul Revere.

My image of NGC 3344, a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Leo Minor, a 30-minute stacked image taken with my Unistellar Odyssey telescope from New York City.
From last night, NGC 3344, a 10th-magnitude barred spiral galaxy in Leo Minor, ~22 million light-years away. Half an hour with my Unistellar Odyssey from Bortle 8.5 NYC. #astrophotography #Unistellar #astronomy
Image I took Sunday night with #Unistellar Odyssey, 18 min. of 4-second exposures of NGC 3521, a mag. ~10 spiral galaxy in southern Leo. It's called a flocculent spiral because its arms are less well defined than a grand design spiral such as M81 or our own Milky Way. #astrophotography
