(all these extra activations with moon, mercury are certainly part of this feeling).

One of the things I am learning with this mars-saturn transit is that indeed, the astrology keeps astrologing, I cannot count the transit as "manifested" and thus over, no it will be active for as long as its active in the sky....argh
The Seniority of the Earth: Matter and Tartarus
I discuss Proclus' first argumenta for why the Earth is "the oldest of all the gods in the heaven": the proximity of the element earth to prime matter and its possession of as it were a remnant of precosmic chaos in Tartarus.

Theurgy is the highest human practice — so why does it rank below prophecy and love in the soul's own hierarchy? What does this have to do with the transformation of the larger religious culture? How can crafts be considered divine?

Firmicus Maternus's reply to the free will objection to astrology: worldly success has nothing to do with moral merit. The stars distribute excellence and catastrophe alike, indifferent to virtue. The ethics that follows is a kind of courage, the embrace of tragedy.

Proclus on the Earth: The Earth Godesses
youtu.be/Z8BLd6FYyIA
Proclus' discussion of the Earth as Guardian of Day and Night leads him into a digression: how to understand the multitude of godesses related to the Earth?
The Creation of Night and Day
Proclus' discussion of the attribute "creates night and day" leads me to explain how Night and Day can be separate divine causes over and above the divine cause of the motion of the first heaven.
The end of the Series on Proclus on the Earth is already available to supporters of the channel.
The Earth and the Heavens
After discussing the notion of "pole" as the Axis Mundi, Proclus turns to a different possible interpretation of the text, namely that "polos" could mean the whole of the heavens. In that case, the Earth is concentrated around it by imitating its spherical shape.
Why did Plato list exactly four divine madnesses—and not five, or three? Hermias of Alexandria has four separate proofs. New video on Neoplatonic philosophy: youtu.be/eGk29IHzE9g
Why Learn Canonical Interpretation

I outline an argument for learning canonical/allegorical methods of interpretation as training for the reenchantment of experience.

Proclus on the Earth: Atlas and the Axis Mundi
youtu.be/ehp_3eJWqEM
After rejecting the notion that the Earth moves, Proclus develops a metaphysical account of the Pole as a Nous, a Providence responsible for coordinating celestial motions, which embodies the titan Atlas.
Proclus on the Earth: Six Reasons for Stability
I discuss Proclus' six reasons for rejecting the notion that Plato thought that the Earth moved, ranging from assertions in other dialogues besides the Timaeus, the meaning of words cognate with illomenen and also more substantial considerations.

Por que Guénon?
De um lado, Guénon continua sendo uma referência importante para muita gente interessada em metafísica no Brasil. De outro, acho que sua obra também precisa ser lida criticamente, inclusive por causa de alguns de seus efeitos sociais e imaginários.

Proclus on the Earth: Does Plato think that the Earth moves?
youtu.be/Wo-ENhtM5LE
Here we start reading and commenting a discussion of Proclus' on a difficult word in the Greek, illomenen, which some took (and take) to mean that the Earth winds around the pole of the world.
