A rough, quickly-done black and white digitally-made sketch of Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley with a switchblade in her hand and the caption "'sup fuckers", inspired by the dialogues created by @midnightpals.bsky.social.

Um, I'm no Kate Beaton, but I couldn't resist working up a quick sketch of my own for that idea. Hope you like it (or at least not hate it. It really was a quick sketch for me, and it isn't AI, which might have done better... but I *HATE* AI.)

A photo of the Odyssey² videogame console. The box is propped up in the background, with colorful graphics emerging from a television set. The console itself is on the left side; it's a silver-gray and black model with a cartridge slot centered toward the top, a large red power button to the cartridge slot's right, and a QWERTY keyboard slanting out below. It's got the same approximate shape as a very large calculator. The wired joystick controllers are shown to the console's right, along with a power brick and a VHF adapter, which attached the unit to a television to display video. It was released in the 1970s. There was also an optional voice synthesizer module available (which is not in the picture. Yes, I got to play with that too.)

Age verification?

I played on one of these when I was a kid.

I'm old too.

Agreed. As much as I like and appreciate the Stooges, give Lucille Ball full credit for supporting Star Trek. She took the risks, she deserves ALL the reward. 😡🖖

I'm not Sicilian, but I do love some garlic... 🤔

That sounds soooo good (except I can't have jalapeños because they give me heartburn. But I'd go with minced garlic or chili powder instead.)

I heard about that too, not sure if it's true or not.

And I wasn't that fond of Chakotay anyway but I hated that forced ship with Seven more than Susan/Marcus.

5 months ago 3 0 1 0

I think it was always meant to be a doomed ship (although I liked Marcus and *didn't* like how JMS rubbed our noses in how self-destructive Marcus was after THAT happened.) Susan was always unlucky in love, and Marcus was infatuated with the idea as much as the actual woman. Their time ran out. 🤷‍♀️

My aunt's fond of Shiba Inus but while Jasper was more friendly and laid back (except for deer), Emmi is more high-strung and nervous in crowds (which is a shame because my aunt had hoped to train her as a therapy dog.)

They both get dogs from rescues so that's something, at least.

My grandma is Maltese, the name's part of the appeal. They're small (which is good for an elderly woman) but with big personalities. Some have been cuddly lapdogs, some are more independent, one was so fierce he attacked my uncle's Great Dane (no injuries, thank goodness.) It just works for her.

Some breeds tend to have traits that sync with someone's personality and lifestyle, so I can understand that. My grandma likes Maltese, my aunt likes Shiba. But personalities within the breed can vary *a lot*, so it's not like having the exact same dog.

I don't get cloning at all.

I don't know if I'm up to the challenge, but I'd like to know more.

@littleevil0ne.bsky.social have you seen this?

It's not a done deal yet, but... 🥰😁

Since the Alt text disappeared: "this is the Jolly Roger of the Straw Hat crew from One Piece. It's a skull (wearing a straw hat) and crossbones on a black field. Monkey D. Luffy, the captain, believes strongly in the freedom to follow one's dreams and helping others."

I'm not defending that guy, but there's one Jolly Roger that I tend to associate with freedom... yeah, I'm weird.

Why the hell does everything have to happen at once?

Don't get me wrong, your art's excellent and well worth the follow on its own! But I didn't actively know I was craving another Mummy movie until I saw that and my immediate reaction was YES GIMME GIMME I NEEEED IT so that was a real vibe... 🤣

Every so often, a post floats through my timeline that confirms, with crystal clarity, the knowledge that "*yes*, following this person was absolutely the right and only correct move to make."

😁👍

We should have a Bluesky main character of the day that everyone is nice to, just pick someone and shower them with appreciation.

You are NOT worthless.

Really.

You may FEEL like it, doesn't mean you ARE; it's just you just can't see yourself clearly right now.

If nothing else, your posts bring value to others' days; that AIN'T worthless.

(I've felt the same, so I GET it. It's hard to believe, I KNOW, but please try?)

In that era, it probably was all white, and mostly if not all male too (considering some of Al's casual lechery and other gendered gags.) 🤷‍♀️

It doesn't mean we can't pick it apart now, of course, and I'm probably biased because I really enjoyed QL back in the day. 🤷‍♀️

Younger me tuned in for the cool scifi, cute guy in the lead, but older me sees the emphasis on empathy, supporting others, how small actions can change lives for the better. It wasn't a perfect show (especially how it kinda played into the "white savior" trope) but for the time it was a good try.

7 months ago 2 0 2 0

True... and yet I think those making the show meant well in doing so. The idea of "walking a mile in someone else's shoes" to help them wasn't the *worst* idea for a show, even if the way they executed it sometimes falls flat by today's standards (and yeah, it does, I'm not arguing that.)
