I just got fed the CBS Evening News feed on Twitter, and here are four of the stories they’re featuring tonight.

(In case you were wondering why their ratings are tanking amid a historic news cycle.)

I just assume this is a feature of the school shooter type, of which these guys are all extremely vivid examples

That's what finally convinced his backer to be like "all right, this guy is too weird even for me," right?

Donald Trump is very unpopular and being seen as opposing Donald Trump in clear moral terms is an almost instant path to political and cultural relevance.

How Rod Dreher's Blog Got a Little "Too Weird" for The American Conservative
The right-wing commentator's columns, which were unedited and bankrolled by a single donor, will be shuttered Friday after a 12-year run. Sources say it was ultimately a diatribe on circumcision that was a bridge too far.

But one particular reader, upon reading the last of said posts, determined the blog had simply gotten too weird, according to two sources familiar with the publication. That disgruntled reader was Howard Ahmanson Ji., the heir to a California banking fortune and the sole benefactor of Dreher's six-figure
salary at TAC, which is published bv
American Ideas Institute, a nonprofit. This unique funding arrangement—a single donor choosing to cover one writer's entire salary—was paired with an even more unusual editorial arrangement: Dreher was allowed to publish directly on TAC's site without any revisions or legal oversight, according to the two sources.

One can’t help but admire Rod’s entrepreneurial pluck. After his long time right wing sugar daddy in the US dropped him in 2023, he quickly found a Hungarian sugar daddy to pick up the slack. Gotta love that free market in ideas!

Lawyers like everyone are going to have to decide what we’re willing to do to stop fascism.

If you want to boil down John Browns message it isn’t “rebellion” it is “slavery is against gods laws and must be fought by any means necessary.“

It was not “vote against the chief executive who is a dang Cheeto”

If you lost, you need to convince more people to vote for you. Going for non-voters is a MUCH better idea than going for people who vote against you and your party.

That's why the establishment democratic strategy of running to the right is a perennial failure.

The reason democrats lose is because they won't pay attention to people who didn't vote for them.

Literally the first rule of politics is to convince people to vote for you!

The Strange Death of Orbánism Franz Pokorny

Hungarian taxpayers paid American “post-liberal” Rod Dreher $105,000 last year to produce propaganda for Orban’s regime. www.jaccusepaper.co.uk/p/the-strang...

I haven't had a long enough breath to talk about how AI is ruining the open web. API after API I used to use is closing - literally because paying the $$$ required to feed these impersonation machines is prohibitive.

Man, when you compare the bravery of every day Minnesotans to the overpaid cops it’s astounding

The Texas Observer is ten times better and infinitely less evil than the Atlantic. Reading it is universally beneficial and if you subscribe you’re helping sustain real progressive independent journalism in Texas

I think you should think about why for the last decade the Democrats never get rid of people who lose presidential elections and keep them hanging around, why the Democrats lost to Trump twice with a "We're better Republicans than he is" campaign, why just enough Democrats always vote for GOP bills,

Democrats could have run on “no genocide and no fascism” and won. They ran on “some genocide and some fascism” and lost, and now establishment Democrat cultists blame the people who pointed out that genocide was bad and tried to convince democrats to change course.

How often does this dogshit Nazi-collaborator party have to keep doing this before you get sick of it?

The Democrats keep running elections on how much the Republicans love them and how they can govern like even better Republicans. Then they tell young people and everyone left of Ronald Reagan to go fuck themselves and "We don't need your vote." Then they lose and blame those same people.

You don't believe a single word in your banner except as far as black lives and women's rights apply to you.

Damn it's almost like there are millions of people out there who won't bother voting for Democrats if the Democrats make their lives worse and then run on "Republicans love us and we're not Trump"

Maybe the Democrats should do something about that. If they want to win elections, that is.
