Aaaaaahhhh so cute
This is what AI can never get you. I recall novelist David Mitchell once saying maybe creativity comes from the process of the human mind trying to connect things, hence, a moon appears to be a paper lantern. The gaps, asides, and immersion is what matters. The input to your psyche, not the output.

Tytyy 🖤 It's a little thinner than Deleter manga paper so I have to be careful not to stab through it!

I love the flex on Speedball 102 nibs but this paper sure doesn't

Making comics is a pretty solitary practice for me. Trying to break outta that with DUNE and get to know the other cartoonists here! It was fun talking shop about inks with folks even if I got Daniel Clowes and Charles Burns mixed up
Wip photo of inks breaking in new nibs on some real flimsy Chinese manga paper
Ahh had some time to pop in for the DUNE issue 100 session between the protest march and Fat Slut haha
Oh ;_; so cute
It's probably a good idea to listen to the people who were saying "abolish ICE" ten years ago and pay attention to what dangers they're pointing out now and maybe get on board with that stuff too
Ohhhhh stoked
Long term goals are to work less dayjob as I have more books to my name. But realistically it will never be none.
I'm solely responsible for supporting myself. I don't generally have mainstream tastes. And I'll be on daily meds til I die.
If dayjob is the only means of survival, then I don't have to kill myself taking every comics opportunity that comes my way, hoping it'll become a full-time gig.
So that means only taking comics jobs I want, doing a lot of work no one else sees, etc. Balancing the lack of personal freedom of expression at work with self-indulgence in my personal art.
Keeping a personal art practice for me helps avoid a lot of both burnout and disengagement at my dayjob.
It's a trap to put too much heart into work not done for me. It's equally a trap to expect work done for my own enjoyment and satisfaction to pay my rent.

Zionism is a plague haunting the beautiful Jewish people, and the responsibility of any and all people who have power is to exorcise that plague--to abolish the very machinery that erects that power differential.
Focusing instead on 'imperfect' victims of that machinery is fruitless at best.
If you’ve ever complained about shipping prices, please take that energy and direct it to your elected representatives. Tell them to fight for more funding of the postal service!
If we lose the USPS it’s absolutely inevitable that shipping rates will increase with all carriers. 😤
