If it's obvious for all to see why delay the game so much and if it's up for debate and the ref might now agree why are they calling it out?

I wouldn't have an issue with a 4th official changing the ruling if they were in the ground and part of the match day team of officials.
It would certainly speed things up!

They do it so well in rugby. They say what they've seen that the on field ref might not have, and say they might want to have a look to see if they agree. Both sides of the conversation over the tannoy the whole time and the ref views it on the same big screen at the same time as the fans.
