I think we need to start thinking of student AI use like sex education. As much as I don’t like AI, saying “no don’t do it, it’s bad” has never worked. As educators, I think we should be focusing on creating healthy AI habits that still promote critical thinking. The question is how do we get there?

I just wrapped up an inspiring experience at the Detroit 25’ Institute on Teaching Social Action, where I had the opportunity to engage with other scholars, educators, and activists dedicated to teaching students how to directly engage with democratic processes and be co-creators of knowledge.
Just received an email from my university about the pause on federal grant funding for DEI programs. My heart aches for my brilliant friends and colleagues whose education and livelihood could be affected. Such a scary time.
