I have absolutely no beef whatsoever with people who prefer wholesome porn but I'm genuinely so sick of the policing that platforms have started on it these past couple years. I've been struggling to put my feelings about this into concise words, so apologies if this is clumsy, but I find it very ironic that this move to eliminate anything that could be perceived as, as they have decided to label it, "sexual violence" in small creator-made works, seems to be more heavily policing content made by the people who tend to be (more frequently but not exclusively) victims of that type of violence. They're shitting on women, NB, trans and LGBT+ people for having kinks that are, as some have theorized, possibly the RESULT of a society that creates this shame and stigma around sex for those people. Decontextualizing this work and trying to reframe it like it's all rape porn is its own kind of violence. We have our own words for it for a reason. Because that's not what it is. But I guess it's all kind of in line with this trend of only being able to view things from your own viewpoint, as if that's objective and true, and never considering things from the perspective of others. I don't want to make this a purely gendered issue because I think there can be nuance to the way cishet men make this content too, it's just this like, extra layer of bullshit. And there will be people who will only ever see this argument as "trying to defend rape porn" and that's the whole damn issue. People don't get to classify my own art for me and if I say it's not, then it's not.

Devaluing some art because it doesn't meet some ambiguous idea of "artistic integrity" but not other art is censorship and giving only people with money and industry connections control of the way those topics are portrayed. I'd rather read a small creator's authentic and honest take on a topic than a boiled down pre-packaged corporate one.

I also wanna be really clear that having limitations on some spaces is entirely fine and enthusiastic consent is cool and I'm not at all saying that space for dark content should exist EVERYWHERE. I'm saying it should exist SOMEWHERE. This is kinda a sloppily written take and I think there are other perspectives on this that are really valid but this has kinda been where I'm at with regards to the policing of dark kink by platforms, sorry for the brick of text. Putting a TW for "sexual violence mention" on this too.
