Extraordinary real life character observation just now in St Johnās Wood. Man, late 70s, immaculately dressed. Speaking on phone: āWhere are you Sir? I canāt see you Sir. Iām on the corner Sir. Can you see me Sir? (Now bouncing in agitation) I canāt FACKING see you Sir!ā
Do you know whatās kind of scary? I asked ChatGPT and it gave me a very thorough answer š¬
Anyone here more familiar with Beth Steelās body of work than me who can point me towards a monologue suitable for a 45-55 year old male? Ideally 2 mins in length šš¼
I wrote something about my journey from a Leicester council estate into the performing arts on my website. Looking back Iām not quite sure how I managed it. Depressingly, itās much harder now, adamfrith.com/worshipful-c...

I performed a monologue from this in class at The City Lit in the late 90s. The teacher invited his mate to watch and give feedback who was none other than Ian Holm, the original Lenny!

Went to get some headshots done and the old dancer in me snuck out!

I think Rami Malek really did not deserve the booting he got in The Times and Telegraph culture sections. Itās almost like the critics got off on it. It became more about them. I thought Oedipus at The Old Vic was genuinely FANTASTIC. A shame some may be put off going and miss out.
One of the mini highlights of my performing career was getting to share a dressing room with Saracen and Hunter and doing a āmost muscularā pose off with them!Thankfully in the days before camera phones existed. Youād have had them on height.
#Oedipus at the @oldvictheatre.bsky.social is incredible. Visceral, democratised theatre at its finest. Acting, dance, lighting, sound & use of set all packing equally powerful punches. Itās a must see event. Go!
My partner has an American mother. Sheās like a hound who sniffs out poor US accents on stage. Even from top actors. Itās crushing for me when I have a go! š¤£

Congratulations to the magnificent Anne-Marie Duff who has been made on OBE for her services to drama. I believe she spent some of her time as a student at Drama Centre being told she wouldnāt amount to much beyond some character parts. Her brilliance has proved them wrong!
Oh no! Spare a thought for a Leicester fan.
Being grateful for being here is such an easy one to take for granted!
Thank you John! ššš¼
4) All to say, to anyone who wants to hear it - this is a long game and resilience is very important. So is skilful action. Taking time out was the best thing I could have done. It just didnāt feel that way at the time. Itās certainly feels amazing to be back doing it! āØ
3) This year I have been lucky enough to audition for The National Theatre and land a small role in a feature film directed by one of my favourite British film directors.
2) Things just got too precarious and I had to do other, unrelated, things for nearly 14 years when I finally became more materially stable.
I never gave up hope or lost the belief I could return one day and do quality work at the highest level.
