In 2025/2026, employers have access to a huge pool of talented candidates because of layoffs. Yet too often, recruiters still hold out for a “unicorn” and pass on great people over one missing nice-to-have. Companies need to do better. Hiring should be about potential, not perfection. #feedback

From a 2019 LG 5K2K display to the NEW 2nd Gen Studio Display. The LG was doing its job but the Logitech web cam was dying sometimes the LG was finicky when I plugged it into my M1 Pro so I’m happy to get something that “just works” # #StudioDisplay I might want one more though 😬

One last thing: I don’t know a thing about passing legislation or state laws but in Ontario Canada, I heard they implemented a law that “ghosting candidates” is now illegal. Trust me I WANT to work & I am qualified but the job market is bad due to Trump. @governor.ca.gov @gavinnewsom.bsky.social

4/4: It’s funny - she said that pay was “competitive”. My point tho, I know my worth, I need a job to get by but I didn’t work 12+ years to art director only to go back to what I was paid 10 years ago, factoring in inflation, my mortgage, cost of living, etc. this job market feels jacked…

3/4: another role was seeking a “graphic designer” with a job description of a Art Director. W2 Contract. The recruiter said pay range was $30-$50 an hr. I asked if there was room to negotiate cause as an AD: our range goes from $65-$120/hr DOE in Silicon Valley. She ghosted without negotiating.

2/4: a recruiter liked me but screened me out cause I didn’t work hands on with motion design for a Senior designer role - yet they were already hiring for a motion designer. As an AD, I can design so Im open to Sr. Design roles. A brand/marketing design role passed on me cause I didn’t do product 🙄

1/4: I have to say something: it’s not right that companies and recruiters are asking for a unicorn in this flooded job market, same jobs reposted bi-weekly, with so much talent. I wonder if these jobs are fake or is it really that hard to find talent with all the layoffs in Silicon Valley/tech.

Seriously I just need a job so I can survive. I’m not trying to sound negative but what how am I, a well qualified candidate who tailors resumes, still getting rejected. 2/2: I know others in the world have problems too but really praying that 2026 turns around for me. I’ve never been laid off, worked since I was 15 years old. Hustles 2 retail jobs after college. And caught admit the 2025 mass layoffs, in my case: “restructuring”. By some miracle an ATS passes me.

1/2: If there is a god (I consider myself agnostic). Not to get personal but as soon as my layoff took effect, a tooth filling comes out as I’m uninsured. Can’t afford home insurance, storm takes out my tree in front. Everyone else on the block is fine with safe jobs. Cropped for privacy.

1/2: In this job market, please consider hiring someone if they have great recs via LinkedIn, you see they have loyalty (not a job hopper) & has drive, great portfolio, etc, hire them. I know in this day & age of social media, we look for dirt or where someone stands on beliefs, politics, etc…

My plea to hiring managers & recruiters: if you have 2 qualified candidate, good Rapport, one has been laid off & the other HAS a job…please hire the one who NEEDS a job. This job market in 2025 is rough, many laid off, with mortgages to pay, life…have compassion & empathy for the one who needs it.✌️

Praying I didn’t blow it for not having a technical skill of “hands on motion design”. I’m a stellar designer and art director who has motion storyboarding experience but coming from Walmart & ebay we had dedicated motion designers to bring our vision to life. Don’t knock out a great candidate. 🤞

Dear recruiters: I know you can be selective but please don’t knock out great candidates cause an Art Director/Designer doesn’t have ABC experience, rather XYZ. As a creative, we’re agile and adaptable and can learn quickly.
