Which way, to the west or the south? The tracks that lead west are closer, but the ones that lead south are more definite. The creature lets out another desperate shriekf as it hears your fleeing footsteps on the cracked plaza stones, and you hear it stumbling as it gathers its strength to pursue.

Welcome :P
This is very exciting :D Hype!
First draft is for telling yourself the story, revisions are for telling your readers the story.
You need no scholarship to see this thing is not divine; a mockery, a corruption of a once respelendent psychopomp. It raises its warped avian head and lets out a pained and desolate cry, its bright blue eye searching, hungrily, as it struggles, at first, to stand.
There's still time to run.

They grip the sides of the pillar and something else drags itself out of the dark, liquid stone; a beak, a beady blue eye, a moulting, feathered head. Then humanoid shoulders, pale and bony, pairs of wings, an emaciated body; it slides from the stone to the floor with a wet and wretched slap.

The moonlight glances across the black stone and sends the oily glyphs scurrying. They burrow into the edifice, like worms into dirt. Nothing happens for a moment, until the smooth, shining black surface begins to bubble and ripple, and two vast, clawed maggot white hands, appear from within.

A spear head made to look like an egret
It's finally done, and she is so pretty
All writing is terrible to someone. Write for yourself and the people who like what you do.
My complicated feelings about being online.
This is after all a blog, and for the first time, I'm going to write something just like a blogger does. Or an old guy rambling on too long about stuff. There have been a lot of posts on BlueSky lately about the heavy lifting and exhausting process of…
consider this my bookmark so i can come back and read when i'm free👀❤️
The last shreds of the sun dip down below the horizon, and night settles cold and quiet on the Ruined City of Shrouds, blanketing it in the stillness of the grave.
The silvery light of the moon will hit this broken plaza in mere moments.

The scintillating lines unfurl and reveal themselves, made intelligible by your focused magical attention. It quickly becomes clear, the event that triggers the summoning is moonlight shining on the black stone. Where it usually describes the summoned creature, the glyphs says: DIVINE AWE.

I have been Blessed by the opportunity to read drafts of Dogwood 1 and now 2 by @audconnelly.bsky.social and you all are NOT READY for how often you are gonna go from gasping at gorgeous prose to laughing your ass at some impeccably timed line/pratfall to reeling from utter emotional devastation
Under the wind blown canvas, the black stone radiates malice. It's covered in shifting, barely visible oily glyphs. Your sorcererous study tells you that these glyphs summon an indiscernable entity when a specific event occurs. To determine the event would require more time examining it.
I'm thinking about it for sure XD
Those are the best ones, I think; where they start with something to hold on to and then sort of grow from there. :D
In the NW corner of the plaza, another piece of the shroud has come loose and trails in the wind, showing the black stone underneath.
The tracks become less clear on the uneven cobbles of the plaza. There are now two tracks; one heads out west, the other south. There is another exit north.
2/2
The sun is almost completely set now, and the light is quickly getting bad. You follow the thief's tracks further through the broken streets to a plaza with a shattered fountain at its centre. In the remnants of the fountain, you see scupltures of multi-winged angels with corvid's heads.

Who are you?
A strong, slow warrior with a magic blade,
A quick, greedy rogue with a fragile skeleton key,
A cunning, sickly sorcerer with a volatile totem of power,
A hardy, pig-headed priest, with a stolen holy relic.
The shrouded figures aren't aware of you, crouched in the nearby rubble.

(:D)
It doesn't take you long to find them; in the ruins of a marketplace, you see a group of figures wrapped in the same canvas that covers the buildings. Most of them work along the far wall, repairing a stretch of shroud that has torn. Others set up lanterns of blue glass. One tends a fire.

As you delve deeper, following his tracks, many of the buildings's ruined facades are tightly wrapped in thick, dark grey canvas, pinned to the stone with iron stakes. They snap eerily in the wind. At a junction, the thief's tracks go west, but there is woodsmoke on the breeze from the east.
2/2
With the sun setting, shadows abound, and you settle into a deep one in the lee of the shattered wall. Only the thief's tracks show in the sand, and as far as you can see, there are no tracks or watchers. You follow the thief into the ruined city streets.

oooh I've always wanted to do a spelljammer campaign; little jelly. XD
It's been pretty by the book so far, but then we've only run two or three sessions! One or two more and then it'll be total chaos, I bet.
Ah! Lots of exciting things still to come then! :D Are you playing a written adventure?

This happened in the week 😈 Ave Satana?
I kinda wanted to put out some satan-worship themed smut when I hit 666 because I'm easily amused, but I haven't actually written it yet 😅 Best laid plans and all that lmao
OK, paperwork's over, but you know you want to explore the Ruined City of Shrouds. Why's it called that? who's this thief?
*nudge nudge*
The Famine is depicted as a rider holding scales, dressed in rich robes and jewellery for he is the cause of the famine inflicted upon all living beings. He also holds cracked golden bowl and an empty Horn of Abundance - both representing the coming of poverty. There is a hole in his chest where the heart should be - an underline to his heartless actions. His dark horse is boney and his harness and hooves are golden in contract to the richness of his master. The horse is acting up like it's trying to shake off the Famine off it's back.

“When He broke the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, "Come". I looked, and behold, a black horse; and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand."
Third of the Horseman of the Apocalypse for my Hell Employees project.

I'm really enjoying world building. I usually go all in and flesh everything out too much, but this time I'm sort of building as I go, around where they explore, the kinds of characters they want etc, and it's really keeping things fresh and relevant :D Do you ever run?
Tiffany Lamp inspired outfits with my eternal muse,Rose !! ✨
Space Jess- it's Jess, in space. She's fully nude- except from a glowing necklace and glowing bracelets + garters. A ray of light bathes Jess' body a she touches her breast; behind her are distant stars and galaxies.
What we're working with 💫
OH nice! I've played in so many games never got to that high a level lmao Plus celestial warlock sounds like such a cool combo. I'm running right now! I like playing but DMing is my first love for sure :D
