We remember the scale of this horror, and the systems of hatred and dehumanization that made it possible — and that still echo in our world today. In New York City, home to more Holocaust survivors than anywhere else in this country, that memory lives among us and shapes who we are. The resilience of survivors is woven into the very fabric of this city, and it calls on all of us to act with courage and clarity in the face of injustice. Today, as antisemitism rises once more, we are reminded that remembrance alone is not enough. We must confront hate wherever it appears. As we light the yahrzeit candle, let us come together to protect its fragile flame — and shield it from the cold winds of hate and cruelty.    “Never again” is a promise. And it is one we must fight to keep.
