there has been no indication that Donald Trump has ever been given a valid copy of the gold codes. not in his first presidency, and not now.

if there's any bright lining it's that AI is fundamentally unlike radio or TV or app stores in that it hews to science and community, not to wealth. look at how much Musk is burning to try to make Grok affably racist, and failing.

...this is basically just what extant bouys and navigation beacons use already, isn't it? Just scaled up to Big Ball of Floating.

"We will generate industrial levels of power by using technology no more complex than what's used to flush a toilet" is not the ecopunk future I was promised but damn I'll take it

Given what the politics of the current owner of The Onion is, they'll feel right at home.

I hate to phrase it this way but this is the best way I can word it: it kind of reads like they asked ChatGPT to take the Turner Diaries and rephrase it in two dozen bullet points using pitch deck language.

Yes, they did. that's not magical, that's because they are different systems.

tldr, they added logging to a call. writes in go is a blocking operation. they expected to get that call maybe 3 times a second. elsewhere, new service was occasionally calling that up to 20,000 times a second. when things got busy monday, it was no longer finishing one batch before the next came in

Sigil

Sigil is a low-level container runtime written in Rust. It implements process supervision, Linux namespaces, filesystem isolation, and cgroups from scratch to demonstrate how containers actually work under the hood.

was reading up about chatelaines (I want one!) and

this brown bicycle suit (ignore the thumbnail, it's something else) seems very Spinny-coded?

Replace the tie, give it a broader neck but leather boots, well-treated leather coat for protection, loose skirt for freedom of movement & a pop of color?
