Modern lights on neuropathology of Alzheimer’s Disease Ludovic S Mure; Modern lights on neuropathology of Alzheimer’s Disease, Sleep, , zsag080, https://doi.org/10.1093/sleep/zsag080

#Circadian disruption is well linked to Alzheimer’s disease but how does it shape pathology?
In this invited editorial in SLEEP, I discuss Duncan et al.’s study showing that dim light at night reshapes microglial state and amyloid vulnerability.

Ten year survival in breast cancer patients TimeTeller predicted good or bad clock function shows good clock function is associated with shorter survival.

Ten year survival in breast cancer patients TimeTeller predicted good or bad clock function shows good clock function is associated with shorter survival.

Good clocks are bad? Using TimeTeller we predict clock function and phase from breast tumour transcriptomes in a multi-cohort dataset including 1286 patients. We find that good tumour clock function is antagonistic to survival.

2026 off to a heavy start. Very sad news from Hanover: The European circadian and seasonal rhythms community lost an excellent physiologist and a genuinely kind human being. Stephan Steinlechner passed away unexpectedly in January.

SO HAPPY to share our new paper in @currentbiology.bsky.social! Using volumetric EM, we found daily shifts in synapses, vesicles, and mitochondria that accompany neuronal remodeling, linking structural plasticity to changes in how s-LNv neurons influence their targets

Socioeconomic roots of academic faculty

Tenure-track faculty are up to 25 times more likely to have a parent with a Ph.D. Moreover, this rate nearly doubles at prestigious universities and is stable across the past 50 years.

Canonical correlation analysis reveals five sleep-biopsychosocial profiles (LCs). Scatter plots showing correlations between biopsychosocial and sleep canonical scores. Each dot represents a different participant. The inset shows the null distribution of canonical correlations obtained by permutation testing; note that the null distribution is not centered at zero. The dashed line indicates the actual canonical correlation computed for each LC. The distribution of sleep (top) and biopsychosocial (right) canonical scores is shown on rain cloud plots.

What’s the cap on human energy expenditure? Elite athletes reveal ‘metabolic ceiling’ When athletes devote large amounts of energy to running or cycling, they unconsciously cut back on energy output elsewhere.

There seems to be a limitation for elite athletes, might well be, www.nature.com/articles/d41...
but have they tested the proposed energy cap in 10-year old children? From own experience, I have doubts they are limited like this! doi.org/10.3389/fphy...
