Thanks, I think quite a few of us do! If our hearts and souls develop as the article posits at a young age, it sure seems like they are bottomless wells for further nourishment as we get older!
I didn't even need AI to write that lol!

Certainly during that period of my life I was connecting to some music and other art as described in the source document. At least for me though, there needs to be an explanation why so much I've absorbed since then (including now) resonances with the same depth of feeling & recall as I felt then.
Enjoyed the #AT40 countdown discussion. Have a great week, hashtaggers! I'll be at "Couchella" this weekend when not watching the NBA playoffs (go, Minnesota!). I've found lots to love on the Coachella live stream, including this guy Byrne-ing down the festival!
I do recall watching Tom Jones' prime-time variety program in the early 1970s (probably from where that manic dancing clip came from lol). Although I don't recall much of it, it's fascinating to see the YouTube clips of his duets with guest stars! #AT40

He was such a subtle performer back then! #AT40
Lots of differing opinions as to Paul McCartney's post-Beatles career, incl. this hit I've always loved 'Another Day' 1971/04/17 #AT40. My take is that I'm impressed by most of his recent albums (e.g., 'Now,' 'McCartney III, 'Egypt Station,' etc.). Sounds like Paul but yet not recycling his past!
One reflection of how deep an impression these early-1970s #AT40 / AM pop radio had on me, is that even though I don't own all that many of the hits such as those on this 1971/04/17 countdown, I still remember every one of them except maybe one or two.
I think many of us born in that era sync'ed ourselves with a #1 Elvis tune. Mine: (Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear. I would say it was Suspicious Minds but that would be fake news, and difficult to explain how I went from birth to tween in 6 months! #AT40
I always wonder why The Jacksons changed the title, because there are no shortage of songs with the same title, then and now. #AT40
Shortly before my tween self tuned into AM pop radio circa late-May 1970, a friend's older brother had some Elvis 45rpms that I "borrowed" & 'Heartbreak Hotel' was one of them (Casey Kasem playing it right now on #AT40 ). I still recall that feeling of awe & musical discovery when I hear it in 2026!
Perfectly said! I also love Earth, Wind & Fire's complete reinvention of 'Got To Get You Into My Life' as well! From what I recall, the only cut salvageable cut from that Sgt. Peppers soundtrack from later in the decade. #AT40
Sort of a "guilty pleasure" pop hit for me! #AT40
Yeah, a fun one! I think back in the #AT40 TwiX era I noted that occasionally I would buy UK Melody Maker magazines and look at their pop charts. I was intrigued by tunes that were UK hits but not USA ones such as 'Chirpy...' Then a few months later it did appear on the #AT40 countdown.
And maybe even the Temu 'Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep.' #AT40
Well I did like it (not love it as the song urges us to) when it was a hit, but I was only 13 at the time. Didn't have the same need to hear it at age 14 and above. #AT40
I feel that about EVERY post-'Candida' Dawn song! #AT40
I wish John & Yoko's 'Power To The People' could be seen thru 2026 eyes/ears as a relic of an activist era long resolved. Instead it's arguably even more relevant today. Hungary got the power! USA has had promising election results recently, hopefully precursors to a November lefty landslide! #AT40
When I post that these early #AT40 programs are my favorite, it's due to the musical edu I got from so many of the top musicians of the era being repped on (oft-maligned) pop radio. imho by the mid-70s pop radio was less able to cover the full range of interesting genres & my tastes were expanding.
C'mon Bluesky. "Oops!" indeed. Well, after several tries I usually see the #AT40 posts. btw, although there'll be no specific pre-reveals from me, I did look at this 1971/04/17 chart and imho it's a top level week! Already: Elvis, Fuzz, Ray Charles, Smokey, and a #1 lp deep cut by Janis Joplin!
Whether or not one thinks this Elvis Presley hit ('Where Did They Go, Lord')(at #40) is among his best or not (second tier for me), I still can appreciate the late-60s-early-70's reinvention of himself, with his vocals in prime, passionate form. #AT40 And next, some sweet soul via Fuzz (#39)!
Not that there aren't aspects of Katie Porter and Tom Steyer's political positions that I'm also in sync with, but at this point California has imho a better fit for progressives:
Thanks for the tip! I've actually heard of the duo The Bird & The Bee, although I don't recall from where (YouTube rabbit hole, perhaps). #AT40
He just needed to roll over a few times! #AT40
Definitely! I have the entire lp with that cut in my iTunes! #AT40
Although I only have a Hall & Oates greatest hits lp and a Japanese 2CD set of remixes, I like all of those that you mentioned. So I'd personally give '80s H&O cuts the most thumbs up. Some outstanding ones in the 1970s, of course. I'll take all of them! #AT40
I forgot about that one (I like it), but I can always go back to 1971 and Sly's 'Family Affair' for a great early example. #AT40 Plus I listened to electronic musicians such as Kraftwerk and Roland TR-808 innovators Yellow Magic Orchestra. Among others!
Wasn't specifically aware of that, but of course I can hear it! #AT40
That scratch is making me itch..." #AT40 Was just listening to this on YouTube yesterday.

Respect the opinion, but my fave Hall & Oates is "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)" from the early 1980s. With such a cool, funky chill vibe that it became a #1 tune on the r&b/soul chart, and it was played regularly on that radio format here in the L.A. area. I never get tired of it! #AT40
