Emergency petrol station run at 6am cos we had no bread, then I managed to spill coffee ☕️ on my jeans on the commute in🤦🏻♂️.
But, I did add 750 words to the secret #WIP even though I didn’t feel like #writing. Silver linings and all that!

What am I reading? The Children, by Melissa Albert.
Watching? The Boys tonight, probably. I also finished the Malcolm in the Middle reboot. And SPN reruns.
I have written plenty of things with a touch of magical realism. Right now, a romcom. A romcom! The last was a cozy paranormal thing. A family animated comedy, a historical fic series… I’m beginning to think I might qualify as a writer w/this list!

Already given a shout to Shawn Brooks, but I’d also recommend Polly J Mordant and Dan Soule, two awesome horror writers delivering quality scares over and over again!
I think that’s how I got most of them. As Christmas/Birthday gifts. Still got ‘em in the cupboard somewhere!
Think they had about three in the end. All big hard backs (coffee table sized). They were really informative but yeah, very expensive.

I’m a massive history/archaeology nerd, so when I do write stories set or featuring elements from the past it’s the perfect opportunity for me to duck into a museum or dive down a few internet rabbit holes for research. Or pick up my old Time Team books (yes I’m THAT sad!) 😂😂
Am branching out into cosy crime. Have written alt history, Norse myth retellings & I've 17thC historical fiction on the go.
I write dark poetry not nec. horror.
I write occasional book reviews at Horror Tree too.

I’ve got a 90K words Steampunk novel sitting in my drafts that I just started reading through.
I’ve also written mainstream short stories, and one, Hope in the Dark, won the Writers Forum short story comp in November 2021.
Writing horror helps build tension in other genres.
Definitely worth a read!
