Well he should. Because its pointless and a breach of the UK climate commitments.

Literally nobody thought this was useful apart from Drax, who get millions from burning trees for power.

Labour warned against ‘ill-thought-out’ welfare cuts to boost defence budget The suggestion has been branded ‘extremely concerning’

Wes Streeting supports welfare cuts to fund defence.

He lets private equity make billions from outsourcing NHS, social care.

Silence on corporate welfare spending.

Since 2010 HMRC failed to collect £500bn in taxes. Capital gains and dividends taxed at lower rates than wages.

Labour leadership is now at best centrist.
Their economics are capitalist.
They are owned by corporations.
They betray their manifesto daily.

Ed Miliband hold firm! North sea oil and gas drilling won’t help anyone other than Nigel Farage | Zoe Williams It’s worrying to watch Labour entertain Reform’s fantasies about fossil fuels. Only renewables will bring lower bills and higher energy security, says Guardian columnist Zoe Williams

It's right to call for Miliband to hold firm. Reeves' pivot toward tiebacks is a semantic dodge that effectively breaks the 2024 manifesto pledge. Scrapping the windfall tax early while households struggle with the 2026 energy price hike isn't pragmatism, it's a surrender to the fossil fuel lobby.

This story was never believable. Just more civil servants taking the fall for a ruthless authoritarian.
The last thing I want for the UK is another failing government but Starmer and his cabinet are liars and bullys.
Their attack on rights to protest tells us what type of government we have.

The total wealth of UK billionaires is £772.8 billion.

150 people have enough money to...

Build 2000 hospitals.
Pay the entire 500,000 person NHS staff budget for 10 years.
Build 8m homes.

And much, much more.

We need that money, THEY DONT.

It just crossed my mind after a Friday martini, that this whole affair with Mandelson, could have been contrived from the start against Starmer as a deliberate act of sabotage by the fascists and foreign influences he is surrounded by.
I'm no fan, but we have to think about what forces want him out

We can't afford welfare.
Unless its for corporations.

Being furious isn't good enough.
Of course the right wing stooges and client media are out to get Starmer, but his failures and his continuing betrayal of the values he espoused for election, mean he has let us all down.
Blue Labour was never going to be a successful strategy.

Keir Starmer did not know Mandelson failed vetting, government says A decision to go against the recommendation of the vetting agency was taken by officials in the Foreign Office, spokesperson says.

Is anybody buying this story? Starmer and his cabinet are either incompetent, liars, or both.

Disney's new CEO, whose pay package is worth nearly $45M, just announced 1,000 layoffs.

Reminder that Disney paid an effective federal income tax rate of ZERO in 2025 and aims to buy back $7B of its own stock in 2026.

This is what corporate greed looks like.

Life in the UK is unaffordable.

Today, the Green Party announces our plan to fix it:

💡 No energy bill rise in July.
🏘️ Rent controls to protect households.
📉 Re-join the customs union to lower costs.

End the affordability crisis. Vote Green in May.💚

For Keir Starmer to talk of national resilience and ignore nature is absurd | Letters Letters: Responding to an article by the PM, Caroline Lucas says he must be clearer about climate risks, Molly Scott Cato says we must reverse Brexit and Dr Victor Ajuwon applauds Labour’s directness....

Extraordinary that nowhere in an article on resilience did PM find space to include the growing threat posed to UK security by the dramatic decline in the health of nature around the world - especially since his own intelligence chiefs have recently spelt it out for him in no uncertain terms 👇

Burning wood is bad enough. Subsidising it is just corrupt.
Labour does nothing because it supports corporations over people.

Drax claimed record £999m in subsidies for burning trees in 2025, thinktank says Company has received about £8.7bn in renewable energy subsidies since 2012, despite claims wood pellets are not sourced sustainably The owner of the Drax power plant in North Yorkshire received record subsidies of almost £1bn for burning trees to generate electricity in 2025, a climate thinktank has calculated. The company was paid £999m last year for generating about 4.5% of Great Britain’s electricity from its biomass plant, costing each household £13 a year, according to analysts at Ember.
