Honestly since it's still a cellphone chip the heat transfering to the case is still nothing to the touch so well within spec of the parts. This is just a quick mod to use that aluminum case to it's full potential. 100% the reason they didn't do it from the factory is manufacturing costs

This would kill consoles. Even with PCs getting more expensive the smaller the gap in price gives no reason not to switch to them. Games are cheaper, online play is free, it can do anything cause it's just a computer, and steamOS is helping consoleify the experience if you want that

This is actually what I was thinking too. The fact that a ton of cars are adding/have plug and charge takes a lot of the annoyance out. Yeah it's closer to an app than a terminal but it's (hopefully) something you only set up once. Should also help the charger hardware itself be cheaper wouldn't it?
