Reward yourself with dinner at Japanese Grandma afterwards 🙂

Thank you for the tour
Is that a pink stove, too? 😍
I love it...especially the idea of a Mamie pink tub in a gold trailer. So 50s!
that is an INCREDIBLE camper! what's it like inside?
in the IYKYK files: the “yellow mustard incident”
The same level of lived truth to write a book about Catholicism as he had writing about Appalachia.
Bonus that the pope also reps Chicago, so it's like Chicago is telling him to fuck off. and he hates Chicago
Eating shit in multiple countries, love seeing him humiliated
Woke 2 begins in Budapest
I can’t hit forward fast enough on that fucker
Second least favorite are those smarmy ones who make excuses for the inaction of powerful people. Instant block.
the accounts of U.S. Senators and Representatives putting up "someone needs to do something!" messages are truly my least favorite posts on here, abysmal cowardice
A bottle of orange mimosa from Costco. It's Italian sparkling wine and orange juice from what the label claims is "real Sicilian blonde oranges." Given the usual good quality of Kirkland Signature products, you know what? I actually believe them. It's pretty nice stuff, not too acidic, not watered down, not sweet. Went well with our popovers with whipped butter and black currant jam, and a pile of bacon.
Enjoying our home popover brunch with a bottle of Kirkland Signature's finest
100% I would fall for the same plov trap
It’s fantastic. Dark as hell though. Had to set it down multiple times, usually related to ~other~ lesser-known horrific serial killers in the Montana midst of my youth.
Same. It's extremely haunting, especially when she ties in her own family and school experiences of violence and mental illness unleashed by the ASARCO smelter in Tacoma on Vashon Island

Murderland (2025) by Caroline Frasier is a interesting read on this subject: she ties the 'golden' age of serial killers and increased crime and violence in general to the abundant lead and arsenic in the air, soil, and water from mining and smelting particularly in the PNW
11 eggs (one cracked in the pot) being dyed several colors thanks to a Paas brand dye kit. Six eggs are drying in a re-purposed egg carton, five others are in their color-coordinated dye cups. They are red, blue, yellow, green, pink, and orange. Beneath everything, a kitchen counter is protected by a few layers of newspaper.
Nine popovers turned fresh out of a muffin tin are scattered across a baking rack on a dark-colored kitchen counter. They have golden brown toasty outsides, and their insides, visible in the center of one that's broken open, are a beautiful yellow thanks to the fresh local eggs I used in the batter. The recipe I used is one adapted from the Jordan Pond House in Acadia National Park in Linda Ly's National Parks Cookbook.
Eggsy weekend over here
My offering this week is shorter than usual, more a dumping of thoughts than a hard research piece (some will breathe a sigh of relief), but I do think the choices we make can make a difference. If only we could scale it.
Did you get your birthday card from your auto/home/renters insurance company agent?
i think all the time about how one of the co-founders of third way was involved with the dukakis tank stunt and he states this as just a funny fact in his public bio. and after that he just kept getting work with the party forever. www.thirdway.org/about/staff/...
Everytime the wretch goes on TV bluesky collectively turns into forensic medical detectives.
One of the promo photos for the 70s TV show Quincy, M.E. featuring a stern-looking Jack Klugman in 3/4 profile holding a pair of pliers? A wrench? Calipers? Not sure. Anyway, he’s a middle aged white man wearing a white dress shirt, light gray tie, gray-blue lab coat against a blue background. An X-Ray photo is hanging off to his left just out of frame.
“We are all a hard 38 here”
I laughed with delight when Berry (finally!) quoted some of his lines in one episode of the final season of WWDITS
She bought a hat a few sizes too big just to fit that perm
