It's National Library Week. ❤️ That's it, that's the post.

I’ve never seen the movie, but The Phantom Tollbooth was one of my very favorite books as a kid. I’ve got a well-worn copy in a box in the basement. Thank you for reminding me to dig it out and give it yet another read.
Yeah, well, joke all you want, Kyle, but before the NG came to rescue DC, the sidewalk outside the Georgetown Brandy Melville used to be like the freakin Barbary Coast.
I should point out that this wasn’t the only bright spot in my feed today. I’ve really been enjoying @mjoneillchw.bsky.social’s posts about completion and moving on as a necessary step in the creative process, which is exactly what I needed to hear. Very inspiring!
Finally, some totally fantastic news in my otherwise sucky bsky feed today! This morning’s doomscrolling paid off hugely. IMO, ODC is the GOAT.

I think the greatest trick for getting good at creative work i know is - finish making as many mediocre things as possible. Just finish stuff, again and again. Share it or don’t, but put a bow on it, put it aside, make the next thing, repeat.
Photo of several puzzle piece with various hand-drawn designs on them. I Love Libraries logo. Text over photo reads: "Find Your Joy and Return to It Often: Why Libraries Matter More than Ever. Sam Helmick, 2025-2026 ALA President" ALA150 American Library Association
"So this week, I encourage you to engage with your library in person or online. Wander the stacks. Attend a program. Ask for a recommendation. Let yourself be surprised." - ALA President Sam Helmick

A wonderful album.
👍 Euclidean Sequencer is a brilliant app. My first 4 Pockets purchase and one of the first midi apps I bought when I was getting into iOS music-making. I love all the AudioKit synths, and bought J8 the day it was released. Cheers!
I looked up the Hs in my Bandcamp collection and here are some suggestions:

Pitting space exploration against social services is a false dichotomy. They’re both critically important, and we could absolutely afford both if we stopped dumping money into killing machines and taxed rich people their fair share.
Don’t get hung up attacking the wrong people.
Thank you! Used 3u9x-cnfm 🙏❤️
What are you guys basing this opinion on? From everything I’ve heard Eno say about AI, it sounds like he has a pretty healthy attitude about it.

My recollection of HR Pufnstuf from back in the day is pretty vague. I was kindergarten-aged when Land of the Lost aired and I loved it. The Sleestaks scared the shit out of me. I can still hear that noise they made.

Their Middle-Ages analogues. Brigands, cutpurses, fraudsters, usurers, etc.
I think scammers should be punished the way they would’ve been back in the Middle Ages.
My favorite DC used bookstore!
Percussionist David Van Tieghem was one of the youngest people to join the Steve Reich Ensemble.
Van Tieghem was part of Reich's seminal Music for 18 Musicians. He also influenced Reich's decision to switch labels to ECM in '78.

Plate 649 from Selenographia, sive, Lunæ descriptio : atque accurata … delineatio. In quâ simul cæterorum omnium planetarum nativa facies, variæque observationes … figuris accuratissimè æri incisis, sub aspectum ponuntur … Addita est, lentes expoliendi nova ratio …Map by Johannes Hevelius, 1647. Rare Books and Special Collections Division. Polish astronomer Johannes Hevelius (1611-1687), often referred to as the founder of lunar topography, came from a wealthy family of brewers. He built an observatory in his hometown of Gdansk in 1641, and published an atlas of the moon titled Selenographia in 1647. This map is from that atlas.
"Copy, moon joy." 🌕✨
The #ArtemisII mission's stunning new images of the moon are making us think about the lunar maps created long before space travel was possible for humankind. This one is by Polish astronomer Johannes Hevelius (1611-1687), often referred to as the founder of lunar topography. 🧵
