Pedestrians have a shorter wait at some Bristol crossings 😃
@edplowden.bsky.social : “Reducing waiting times at crossings is a simple but important change that helps everyone - especially children walking to school - feel more confident when crossing the road.”

Perhaps more people are noticing that streets congested with bigger and heavier cars don’t actually help anyone.
Enabling and prioritising alternatives to driving helps us all, even the people sitting in jams in their cars. Which is why I’m proud of Green transport plans.

Screen grab of a Mirror article with a photo of Zack Polanski in a suit and white shirt speaking and looking active, with text: Green Party leader Zack Polanski speaking at the launch of the Wales (PA) Green Party plans to reduce the speed limit on Britain's motorways to 55mph One major change under the party's new plans is reducing the speed limit on our motorways from 70mph to just 55mph - a decision that will split opinions between both motorists and non-motorists
The many media outlets calling @greenparty.org.uk transport policy a “war on motorists” should try talking to bereaved families and seriously injured survivors of road crashes rather than ignoring the trauma and pain left when people drive without considering the harm they may cause at the wheel.
Amazon, which saved $4B in taxes under Trump's Big Ugly Bill, has cut 30,000 jobs since last October.
Verizon, which saved $2B, plans to cut 15,000 jobs this year.
Meta, which saved $3B, plans to lay off 20% or more of its workforce.
Trickle-down economics is a cruel joke.
🎉 Great victory in Rossendale tonight!
Huge congratulations to Cllr Laura Diamond and team! 💚

‼️First-ever Green win in an MP by-election
✅ As my colleague @tobywells.bsky.social points out, "franchising is such a good idea that it was universally supported by all parties" in the mayoral elections.
❌ But now she is in power, Labour's mayor is dragging her feet.
🚌 We need better buses, not more Labour delays and broken promises.
Even the Wall Street Journal is beginning to agree with the Green Party 😁

Well worth a watch and a really interesting conclusion.
Massive car infrastructure in Dubai.
8. Before you indulge the urge to complain about “too much traffic” or “not enough parking,” learn all you can about induced demand, the law of congestion, and car dependency. Practice repeating to yourself the truth that “I’m not stuck in traffic, I AM traffic.”
No billionaire donors. No vested interests. No shady dealings from Tufton Street.
Just individuals coming together for the common good.
Inspiring stuff.
Hope is here.

The UK, where the day after a decision to take half a million children out of poverty, the media & political world has been full of sneering at those same children & their families, labelling them as ‘Benefits Street’, while the same people are moaning about a tax on £2m mansions. Shameful stuff.
This is a great example of working together, so whilst @BristolCouncil acknowledges the road closure in Bedminster will cause inconvenience, I am grateful for the work to reduce it from 21 to 2 days thanks to joint works

I think I am as hazy as you! I thought it all really kicked off after Vincent, which was early 86.
More than all the others out together
A bar chart showing the results of the Long Ashton by-election. 1st: Green: 55.17% 2nd: Conservative: 17.57% 3rd: Reform: 15.36% 4th: Lib Dem: 6.64% 5th: Labour: 5.26%
Congratulations to our newest Green councillor, Cllr Mike Dunn, on winning the Long Ashton ward by-election in North Somerset with a huge Green vote!
This would be a more convincing argument if Keir Starmer had not himself made a whole series of promises which he then declared completely undeliverable as soon as he became leader www.theguardian.com/politics/202...
Not good, thanks for the heads up. I’ve sent these images to the chair of the environment committee, which oversees Bristol Waste
Where are you getting this figure from?
It is not true “England cannot effectively subsidise travel costs”. Retired people get free travel. By freezing the fuel duty escalator we are subsidising car drivers, which compounds inequality. See more here: bettertransport.org.uk/media/groups...

How do we fix this mess?
