Classic Kiwi tall poppy syndrome, negging Citizen Theil just because he's made a success of himself.

This is rage bait.

In this case the RNZ article suggests name suppression was granted in the interests of the victim, rather than the accused. The judge said his claim for suppression was 'fatuous'.

For time and place vibes, I believe SF Sorrow was recorded at Abbey Rd at the same time as Sgt Pepper and Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

Leeds is barely '70s, and it's '60s (and '50s) material 😉.

Have you ever tried the Pretty Things? SF Sorrow for over ambitious psychedelia and Parachutes for just a damn great album.

Agree with almost all of that. Studio Tommy is like an unfinished demo compared to the boiler suit era live performances though. Sell Out is an amazing time capsule.

I don't think you can hijack your own thread! I still listen to the Who's expanded Live at Leeds more than any Kinks album, but yeah, their studio LPs weren't as coherent. The Beach Boys kinda exist in their own universe.

If you're after an album I'd go for Village Green Preservation Society. Otherwise any compilation will be a steady stream of era defining hits.

Seems fairly obvious who the defendant is here. The judge doesn't seem particularly sympathetic.

It's one way of dealing with the generational transfer of family wealth I suppose.

I also want to see the Pacific at the time the first waka travelled here, the flocks of birds and herds of whales that they tracked.

My anecdata is that the ability to deal with technology is among the first things to go. I agree about the unbanked tho.

Wired uses that wording and it reads disconcertingly like a threat

I was stuck in my driveway in the Atto3. Took me an embarrassingly long time to find the door release.

I had the Atto 3 as a lone car and fell in love with the Buck Rogers style interior - I'm sure your decision will be based more on practicality though.

The report’s rather simplistic suggestion that better information will somehow suffice (suggesting authors never spoke to or learnt from disinfo experts) doesn't counter what was then, & still is a strategic, sustained, sophisticated, industrial-scale, coordinated assault on the national psyche.

I had the increasingly rare experience of feeling better informed after reading this.

I'd never heard of it, but according to Wikipedia it's to be relaunched some time this year. You may have your wish.

NZCPR Author on Tamatha Paul Cycleways vs Water Piece Doesn't Exist Minutes from the meeting and those there, on the left and right of council, have confirmed the vote never happened as described. Moa Point is being fanned by bad actors to pin the blame

Thanks for that reminder. I recall this nonsense causing all manner of panic and conspiratorial thinking last time round.

Labour MP ejected from House after 'trifling' over Peters' remark Kieran McAnulty ordered out after challenging Speaker Gerry Brownlee's decisions on comments made by Winston Peters.

Once again the Speaker beclowns the dignity of Parliament by treating a factual reflection on an outright lie by a senior minister as a greater crime than the outright lie that he lets stand

Brownlee is a disgrace in the one job he might have excelled

Shane Jones as minister and Goldsmith taking care of the appointments. Too easy.

He seems to have no cultural hinterland - at least nothing that a 'kiwi bloke' could relate to, and has to invent a range of experiences that seem like he's some sort of clumsy ai agent masquerading as a real boy.

I'm amazed by the honesty and vulnerability in this correspondence. I can't imagine being able to communicate like that at that age. Spose that's why they're incredible songwriters.

That is a deliciously barbed summary of her career: "She received her second final warning..."
