✨ Many noted that certain item phrasing / order could cause emotional discomfort, and shared concrete ideas for improving safety and inclusivity.

💫Key message: for these tools to work, they need to be co-created with survivors from the outset.

✨ They also raised format issues: exposure ≠ impact, unclear/ambiguous wording, and yes/no response options that oversimplify complex experiences.

Eight years ago, a questionnaire told me my childhood adversity didn’t “count.”

This year, I had the privilege of working with a team of brilliant BSc students to explore how we can better measure adverse childhood experiences.
