Today marks the 44th anniversary of the single most sanity-warping print error ever committed to print.

The gnawing, eldritch, Lovecraftian horror of this Peterborough Standard society page from April 18, 1980.

Theremony at tremony at the liremony indeed.

First saw this story over on Threads, and people really, really, really did not like anyone correcting misinformation about their misreading of the story. We seem to be moving to some sort of post-reality where people just want fake stories that reinforce their beliefs.

pete hegseth is so bad at his job that we're like one tick away from the gray zone being like "actually, pete hegseth is good, because he effectively stands against american imperialism"

i wonder if some of the greens’ comms problems arise from having to make big policy announcements etc fit into the co-leadership model

I think the general drying up of social media might be a healthy thing for me. It has become a constant idle distraction when I really should be focusing on my fantasy football team.

like it’s PSYCH101 that you don’t even know shit about your *own mind* but apparently people’s reckons on the economy are beyond doubt and actually it’s the actual data that’s wrong. idk.

idk what the deal is with the vibecession discourse but it is kinda weird that it’s generally accepted people can be very wrong about their reckons on pretty much everything except, apparently, the US economy?

6 days ago 0 0 1 0

is this … true though?

6 days ago 1 0 2 0

i mean maybe it’s different in the USA but a very basic rule of media management is “never trust a journalist when they’re being friendly” so idk 🤷
