Belotti et al investigate the glacial history of the Chitina Valley in south-central Alaska. They find that there was a retreat of the glaciers/ice caps in that region to present-day extend during parts of MIS 3. doi.org/10.1111/bor....

The southernmost glacier in Norway is about to extinct soon! 😰
Breifonn was not exactly a small glacier at the end of the LIA (6 km²).
But only scattered patches totalising 0.15 km² remain today, meaning disappearance in the next few years... 😱

New paper out today led by Martin Siegert with about 40 others where we argue that some of the proposed Polar #Geoengineering schemes for ice sheets, sea ice and solar radiation are potentially dangerous and unethical.

In light of high temperatures and recent collapses in the Alps, we're resharing our 2022 piece from geomorphologist Ludovic Ravanel on mountain stability in the Mont Blanc Massif.
Despite being 3 years old, it contains evergreen advice on warning signs of collapse and areas to avoid in the heat.
