Pure joy in cinematic form.
(From the great new @indicator.bsky.social 4K of DEAD KIDS)
Really solid episode which brings out some wonderfully insightful discussions of Altman & his work which are triggered by some of his most maligned films. Kudos to @mangiotto.bsky.social @markerryan625.bsky.social @aduralde.bsky.social & @claykeller.bsky.social

Space and knowing I need the $$ more right now.
Well times are tough honestly. Not sure how much longer I’ll be employed so looking at higher value stuff mostly, but most of it has to go as I’m downsizing my apt. Just need the $$
New in the Main Feed!
ROBERT ALTMAN SUPER DRAFT:
PART TWO
Picks #28 to #22
Drafted by @mangiotto.bsky.social & @markerryan625.bsky.social, with guest co-commish @aduralde.bsky.social
Listen everywhere!
I was with @aduralde.bsky.social when I heard the placement of JIMMY DEAN. I get its not for everyone and the Commissioners made their points but I was bummed to see it placed so low. Gotta be a tough thing to do this kind of draft though, I understand - esp when you're an Altman fan.

Had a good time watching some of my boy WC FIELDS with a crowd last night at @newbeverly.bsky.social
6. Ooh, forgot one: Alex Cox's opinionated book about spaghetti westerns, 10,000 Ways to Die, which introduced me to many interesting films including ‘The Price of Power’.
kamerabooks.co.uk/bookpage.php...
The chaotic cover of The Psychotronic Video Guide from 1996 with a collection of film posters.
5. And the two Psychotronic guides are, indeed, full of oddities. I think I actually prefer the 1990s VHS era book, The Psychotronic Video Guide, because the films it covers feel even more ephemeral.
The very 1980s cover of a film guide listing hundreds of cult movies.
4. Via Pure Cinema and @bobfreelander.bsky.social in particular, Danny Peary's Guide for the Film Fanatic. (I find the longer essays in Peary's Cult Movies books less interesting, but still worth checking out.)
3. Nightmare Movies by Kim Newman – one of the first interesting film books I ever owned, picked up from a secondhand shop in Woolwich for £1.50. Like being collared by your nerdy pal in the pub and being subjected to a barrage of recommendations.
www.bloomsbury.com/uk/nightmare...
The cover of The Magic Box with a collage of vintage photos showing children watching The Village of the Damned on TV.
2. The Magic Box by Rob Young, which isn't a listings book, and is really about TV, but still covers hundreds (?) of films.
