That’s the weakness Franklin had in mind when he said
“If you can keep it”.

And the courts get to decide whether the legislation that Congress passed and the president signed meets Constitutional muster.

Almost like the three branches of government check each other’s authority.

The people who stood by while George Floyd was murdered would have been arrested, or worse, if they had tried to intervene.

“The group plans to release scorecards rating national political candidates on how well they adhere to the Constitution and the rule of law.”

That plan is sure to get them labeled as “radical left extremists” by Trump and his minions.

Shorter version: rural racism.

4 hours ago 0 0 1 0

A whopping 18% of Americans live in rural areas. If the Constitution wasn't rigged in their favor they wouldn't have been able to jerk the majority around for decades since republicans figured out how to use the them to manipulate the system.
GOP's constituency is mostly cow shit.

These losers do this all the time in Washington too. People from rural counties that have, like, eight people and fifty cows in them complaining about being "ruled from Seattle."

I don't know what to tell you, bud! 52% of the state's population lives in the Seattle metro! That's democracy.

Any "extraordinarily brilliant person" would know his presidency is in free-fall after his disastrous decision to enter another endless war-of-choice in the Middle East & that on November 3rd accountability is coming for the most corrupt criminal Administration in U.S. History.

AOC is all sensible Americans right now, Americans who have completely lost patience with the wildly incompetent, lying loons currently running things who undermine our sanity, wealth, and wellbeing.

While Trump & his ilk are fighting like hell to keep the price of fossil fuels stratospherically high to benefit his donors, China is kicking our asses in clean energy. We're losing our standing in the world.

Scratch that. We've lost our standing in the world.

We, as a country, have squandered our drive for innovation and replaced it with financial schemes and slavish devotion to dying technologies.

I mean, why build something when we can just buy a company, lard it up with debt, and take a golden parachute as the company dies?

Tesla was left to stagnate for too long, now everyone is eating its lunch.

Then the US contrives to score the stupidest own goal by simultaneously making fossil fuels more expensive, and the supply of them more unreliable. Is your country Great Again yet, Drumpf?

Reading the FT front page story about a Chinese company introducing a battery with a 1500 km range & six minute recharging time & about how two Chinese companies own more than half of the global EV battery market & I am struck by the different realities the US and China occupy. We’ve lost the plot.

This is just like toxic dumping in 3rd world countries where decision-makers just don’t care about the local population.

In this case it’s South Texas with a majority brown population.

Indeed.. that's the way industry has always behaved. it was much worse in the 50s and 60s, I've seen lake Michigan in the 60s with dead fish floating in it you wouldn't believe the way it looked and smelled as opposed to what it is today
