So grateful to have met you when you held services for my stepmother, Kay Braverman.

in the trump administration, “merit” is pronounced “white” like how strom thrumond said it.
Adams must be removed. The city cannot sustain being governed for nearly a year by a Mayor who is being coerced by Trump admin in order to escape charges.
This corruption poses a real threat to the people of the city. He should have resigned a while ago, but will not. So it’s time for him to go.

The acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Danielle Sassoon has resigned after being told to drop charges against Mayor Eric Adams.
These are the heroes we MUST acknowledge, applaud, and encourage....so more will engage in these same acts of bravery and integrity.
Dear Governor Kathy Hochul:
It's time.
You have the power to remove Eric Adams from office as NYC mayor.
Take a stand -- and stand up for cleaning up corruption in New York.
REMOVE ADAMS NOW.
Sincerely,
A New Yorker
Mayor Adams is as corrupt as they come: throwing immigrants under the bus in the most tawdry, blatant move to cover his ass.
All to have fancy hotel rooms in Turkey.
This was the motto of the civil society movement to resist Bolsonaro’s right wing authoritarianism in Brazil. I learned it from @annagalland.bsky.social and love it. Would love to see American designers do their own interpretations.
Look up how much NIH helps research in your state. Then call your reps and ask them how your state will function without the [$X billion] your state is about to lose.

There's a real "it can't happen here" mentality that prevents a lot of Americans from having a clear-eyed view about the fragility of American democracy. Dictatorship is always something they see on the news about other countries, never something to happen at home
3) I work in the terrain of collective trauma and this feels real: in their/our bodies, we are taking in profound stress, diffused fear, uncertainty and it’s getting converted to physical symptoms.
2) While some clients are directly bringing up the news, I’m talking about others who don’t. Who start w/ physical complaints in a way they hadn’t before. When I gently ask if news from the outside world is “present for you:” tears. difficulty breathing. eyes averted. shoulders then slump. 2)
Coup and mental health
Clinical work in a coup: I have seen a real uptick in experiences of and/or preoccupation w/ physical aches, sickness, immune system fatigue, “not feeling well?” over the last few weeks. The majority of my patients are experiencing this - even those who don’t identify as “political” or a target. 1)
“Not since the 1960s have Black Americans been the target of a greater political assault than the one we’re witnessing right now,” @keithboykin.bsky.social writes for Word In Black.

This entire thread:
The serious concerns over how the Order will detrimentally impact transgender youth cannot be overstated. One Washingtonian, as her parents describe her, was a bright and gentle soul who loved playing musical instruments, trying new things, and playing Magic the Gathering. She was excited to learn Japanese and the impact of gender-affirming care was immediately clear to her family. Her parents described that “her joy was clear with every new milestone in her transition. She was so happy to get to the next step, to get closer to presenting in a way that was true to herself.” But the day before the presidential election, she shared, “[t]omorrow I get to find out if I’m illegal.” After the election, she asked her parents if they could move to Canada because she was fearful of new restrictions on transgender youth and worried about losing access to gender-affirming care. In January 2025, she took her life. After the Order issued, her parents expressed that the outlook for transgender futures looks scary and shared fears of what ending gender-affirming care would have meant for their daughter’s access to therapy, puberty-delaying medication, hormones, and hope of surgery. Her parents have expressed fear for the many lives who depend on gender-affirming care and that what happened to their daughter does not happen to any other children.
In a new lawsuit filed against Trump by state AGs, a family with a trans kid shares she died by suicide last month citing fears Trump would deny her access to gender-affirming care. "Her parents have expressed fear...that what happened to their daughter does not happen to other children."
We should be protecting our patients.
That is our job.

Incredible work everyone. Science will never be silenced!
Protect trans kids
In NYC? Protest NYU’s decision to cut off treatment for two trans kids!
Anti-ICE protesters in California have shut down the 101 freeway in Los Angeles marching towards City Hall.
Bravo!
Meta is renewing its threats against employees, telling them today that they will hunt for leakers and tolerate zero leaks.
Want to know how that is going? Three Meta employees who I’ve never spoken to before just cold messaged/emailed me offering me to be sources.
Exclusive: NSF this week began to search through billions of dollars of grants the agency has already awarded for anything touching on topics that President Donald Trump has criticized. And NSF has blocked grantees and trainees from accessing funds while the review is underway. scim.ag/3El0NZh

I’m sad to learn that my law school classmate, Kiah Duggins, died in the DC plane crash last night.
Kiah was an exceptionally talented civil rights lawyer and aspiring legal scholar.
I hope you’ll read about her work and the causes she cared about, some of which I’ll 🧵 below.
What an immense loss
