I enjoyed the last of these periodic virtual workshops on storytelling, and I'm really looking forward to this next one on 4/18.
A bunch of narrative folks get together to explore the questions “How does agency affect narrative?” and “How can we get past conflict as the central narrative driver?”

Thanks so much, that's really nice to hear! I really enjoyed talking about some of the thought process behind the narrative design.
Text: The Well-Edited Game: How Professional Editing Elevates Our Medium Jess Haskins, Marissa Koors Editing is an integral part of the creative process in traditional media. But in games, editorial responsibilities are scattered across disciplines or skipped altogether. What do game editors actually do? Are editors only for narrative games? How does editing interact with other aspects of production? What should you consider before working with an editor? We’ll demystify the editorial process and make the case for including editors in every game’s development. We’ll break down the different types of editing, highlight successful interventions from past projects, and share why we believe 2026 is the year of the game editor.
Hey, I'm gonna be speaking at @narrascope.org in Albany in June! I'm delighted to team up with fellow editor Marissa Koors to dig into the hot new trend of having your game edited and how you can get in on the craze. 2026, year of the game editor!

Ok, I lol'd 😂
"But I don't know where to start!"
Start with a free, no-strings call to ask questions and learn about editing for games: thegameeditors.com/book
I believe editing should be as routine for games as it is for books, and every dev deserves the chance to work with an editor. Let's make it happen!
(And publishers—if you're already spending money on services like VO and loc for the games you sign, you could make those go smoother, save money, *and* raise the quality of your whole catalog with a reliable freelance editor on call. Ask me how!)

"But I can't afford to hire an editor!"
Unfunded indie? We love those! Ask about sliding-scale discounts.
Got a publisher? This one's big: budget and negotiate for editing funds alongside other finishing services like VO, loc, QA, and marketing. (All things editing can make more effective, btw!)
Ever thought about having your game edited? We're The Game Editors, that's literally what we do!
"But the writing's good, why would I need it?"
Essentially every published author, from novice scribbler to literary giant, gets to work with an editor. Don't games deserve as much?

Yeah, and that distinctive energy is "DOOM" 😈
I love the art and symbolism in the Thoth deck. But I do find the one-word labels for the minor arcana kind of flatten the meaning, usually toward the most negative aspect. Crowley was a bit of a downer, eh?
Important survey:
a) Are you part of the LGBTQIA+ community?
b) Do you make and/or play games?
c) Do you have Thoughts about games you want to share with the world?
If so, great news! Programming applications for Flame Con 2026 are open and the Gaymer Lounge wants to hear from you!
If you’re developing a narrative/adventure game and want to add voice acting, or your script needs editing, consider reaching out to The Game Editors!

That's so lovely. Congratulations!
Awesome, congrats!
Currently listening to a bit of plastic that fell out the back of a charming little zine about magic. ingowanring.bandcamp.com/track/doors-...
A hand-shaped stand holds the 7 of cups tarot card from the Crowley Thoth deck, titled Debauch, in front of a vase of pink and yellow tulips with drooping stems. The card depicts a lotus rising out of swampy water with seven pale pink flowers drooping over seven cups filled with dripping slime.
Today’s card is the Seven of Cups, Debauch, its drippy lotuses echoed in the languor of my droopy tulips. #tarot
Narrative-focused studios, you can sponsor Narrascope and receive passes in return for your staff. A worthwhile conference!
Anatopism. Like 'anachronism' but for place. (literally 'something out of its proper place')
This is a real word already but definitely needs adopting by fantasy writers for the reasons skeeted!
To this day I am still astonished by how much I *loved* 17776 (a.k.a. "What Football Will Look Like in the Future"). If anyone out there hasn't seen it yet, head to www.sbnation.com/a/17776-foot...
‘EXIT 8’ star Kochi Yamato will be appearing in-character as “The Walking Man” in several NYC subway stations tomorrow, April 8.
People who spot him and say the pass phrase “turn back” will collect a special prize.
I love it so much. Well done.
Rosewater won big at the AGS awards!
More game ceremonies should be like this, performed in-engine and simulcast on IRC
Video games often have floating platforms, but they don’t explain why the platforms are floating. That’s where game writers come in, to say that platforms are kept aloft by “ghostium” an invisible fog created by the souls of every dead person
Tomorrow will be an April Fool's edition of the NYC Indie Games Social—and there are still a few spots left! luma.com/iw9ma2vl
Thank you! It was my grandmother's—made in Japan, hardly ever used. I actually just started trying to bring it out and use it more.
A plate of mini turquoise tinted waffles topped with whipped cream and sesame seeds on a table with a stack of waffles, a china cup of tea, and a china teapot and creamer in the background
A mixing bowl filled with bright lavender batter, a mini waffle maker open and filled with batter, and a plate with a bluish brown finished waffle
Birthday brunch treat: color-changing mini ube vegan waffles. They mixed up lavender and turned green-blue.
The 10 of Swords Tarot card from the Crowley Thoth deck, depicting ten swords with their points inward on a spiky orange background and titled Ruin
Great card to draw for my birthday, following yesterday’s draw of Defeat. I see both of these quite a lot. Why do I keep using Crowley’s stupid Oops All Swords deck, anyway?
@attie.ai, for those who wanna press the funny buttons too

This is absolutely disgusting. Language is at the root of this game, and it's beyond despicable to assume an AI tools can properly translate the narrative emotions of a title of this caliber, especially considering how Czech is one of the hardest languages to master
