Hello #NephSky! Trying to look for accounts to recommend for Filipino #Nephrologists to follow. I'll be speaking in the PSN Convention next week and would love to connect them here.
I see Dr @edgarvlermamd.bsky.social's posts here and in X :)

You know you're getting old when what you learned in training are now changing.
TB updates (from 2020): it's now TPT not IPT, genexpert>afb smear, no more CategoryI, II etc but just Regimen I & II, shortened regimen 4mos instead of 6 for uncomplicated TB.
Congrats @kiefferferraris.bsky.social!!

Hello Drs., our team wrote this perspective exploring the potentially critical role of data scientists in tumor boards, especially in LMICs. Please repost to spark conversation :)

Is there already a starter pack for #Filipino health professionals? Both based locally and abroad would be a good way to connect :)
also, there's a new episode tomorrow and i can't wait!!
Brings us back to the "old days" when you have to wait for a week for a new episode haha. I think it's a wise move because that 1 hr is so full already and you can't even watch it as white noise - anything more than that will really mimic healthcare burnout 🫠🤪
Given Mebendazole 500mg chewable tab but child doesn't want to chew?
Place tablet in a spoon, add about 2-3 mL of clean drinking water. Tablet absorbs water w/in 2 minutes, turning into a soft mass (semi-solid consistency) which can then be swallowed.

I got distracted with what's happening with the world, but now I'm back here and hopefully for good. Going back to why I'm in this platform in the first place, to share and learn from my colleagues in the pediatrics and health informatics field.
Lezgo!
Salbutamol (albuterol also, just diff name here) syrup is very commonly prescribed as an OTC med in my side of the world too 😞
Also... why does it have to be 2 different names for the same drug 🤔

If LLMs get their training data from the internet... imagine your teens to early 20s self in your blogger era 🤪🫣 I can't even remember my username and password for the very old "hidden/anonymous" blogs, but I'm sure it's in the internet void 🫠
“The best teaching of medicine is that taught by the patient himself” - W. Osler
Grateful for patients and the things they teach me until now.
I have FRIENDS on as white noise and it still brings me comfort 😅
Omg same. Didn't realize 2h40min passed, and I was just getting ready for the intermission... 😅
A favorite podcasts of mine, Hard Fork w/ @kevinroose.com and @caseynewton.bsky.social, talk to @adamrodmanmd.bsky.social about his RCT study published in JAMA showing GTP-4 beat both physicians (No AI) AND physicians using GPT in diagnostic reasoning.
I highly suggest you check it out!

A visual abstract for the article. A figure shows a KM curve with the intervention group having fewer total ABx which continued for 4 years
What if physicians were paid to NOT prescribe unneeded antibiotics? 🤔
Clinicians in 🇯🇵 were paid ~$5.7 when rationale provided to not prescribe 💊 for kids <3y with acute URTI or gastro
There was sustained ⬇️ in ABx (~20%) over 4 yrs w/o signals of harm

Arguably, the greatest advance in healthcare in the past 100 years was the widespread vaccination of children.
Prompted GPT to generate portrait image of a child, then an adult, w/chickenpox & these are the results. Tried to "edit" w/ prompts to rotate the image of the child and to remove those rashes on the shirt but I guess polkadot chickenpox shirts go well with the skin rashes 😅
