Such is the naturalisation of AI, this behaviour which is, objectively, utterly shocking, seems to generate a large 'what did you expect' shrug. We're way beyond Cambridge Analytica here. The way this material implants into the thoughts of voters unaware of AI is more consequential then we think.
Edinburgh Airport still utterly sucks. Some people are making a LOAD of money and not hiring enough staff and squeezing the existing workforce, I always laugh at the pilot boasting the plane’s early arrival when we all know this is only the start of the hour’s wait until exit.
"Looking forward, actually, to its next conquest."
Amidst its awfulness, Trump's WarHammer guff is actually a useful historical antidote to the Euro-Liberals' deep WestWing fetish of the US political system. Korea, Vietnam, Chile, Iraq, etc. -> "it's next conquest."
Great time for the Scottish oped machine to pump out their Strangelove-in-the-Glens guff. Anyone expressing their atomic love in print or podcast should declare the distance of their postcode from the blast zone…
Let’s see, does the guy who has boosted oil and gas all his life, who has wanted Governments to get out of the way of this industry think we should be drilling more? Of course he does. #r4today should have an alternative view on here, one that takes climate first. “Balance” is NOT the future.

Do *you* think we should be showing diplomatic support to Trump or or not?
😂 You are clearly desperate to tell me your own answer to your own question. Fire away!
Ok, courtroom guy, define “showing diplomatic support” and take a less haughty tone and I might answer.
I’m saying it’s laughable and classically, infuriatingly British that our response to a destructive clown is based on withdrawing Royalty. What a ridiculous polity we live in. It’s like Gulliver’s Travels.
“If you call our aircraft carrier toys we’ll stop our King from visiting you! So there!”
The Lib Dems, ladies and gentlemen. And the United Kingdom of Big King Weapons.
it can *always* slide further down the hellpipe.....
and now, no doubt, we will get the lads on to tell us who object in our bones to this, to grow up and realise the realpolitik, the history of the 'relationship', etc, etc. But this is still sickening. At what point do we simply just say NO to all of this shit?
“There is a big war with oil and gas volatility at the core but I tell you right now the way the UK will prove resilient is by chopping welfare and the NHS”. Who is the robot on #r4today? Not a word about local renewable energy infrastructure, just using a war to hustle for more austerity.
Just a “left” oriented magazine openly shouting for a union to be “broken”. The same opinions about Scottish politics from the same centre right guy for ever.
Badenoch: I don’t wan’t to escalate but I want to escalate in order to de-escalate. And we should drill the North Sea. And we should get more bombs and bomb things.

The DC Metro tho. A wondrous thing. Sorta Public Works era Science Fiction. The SPACE of each station. Like a world in which all the city seems underground too….for a Glaswegian like me it felt GIANT
The full pathetic weight of the BBC “but” there, ostensibly allowing the room for racist views. I’m now listening to Farage claim that Immigration causes potholes. Incredible. Do they think of the social consequences of their broadcast oxygen? #r4today
cool cool - but do you stop being funny after 50?
(uhm, maybe even 40....) 🤔
“The Board of Peace has rejected your plea for peace assistance due to your poor location.”
Farage uses term “retreating icecaps” in his disingenuous remarks on Trump and Greenland. A word useful to climate deniers and equivocators who can’t confirm acceptance of warming. “Retreat” sounds like the ice has agency. It doesn’t. It’s melting because human actions are causing it to melt.
The principle reason for the rotten, deadly mess we’re in today is this: over the decades the rich bought up political parties with donations turning government into a corporate plaything which works against the interests of the people
From that all miseries flowed

If an outcome of the incoming global tariff wars is some sort of cool-looking, Euro-brutalist vibe, minimal function yet highly efficient portable mobile devices to replace all our attention-farming US-tech, then great, bring it on.
*No more than three 'apps' (which will not be called 'apps')
Never forget: never let anyone else forget either.
All the posts pointing out historical antipathy in tweets between Jenrick and Farage as Gotchas are fair game but ultimately weak sauce. Ethical solidity doesn’t work with the Reform convinced voter. They will simply see the move as further proof of the growth of the movement. Bygones, etc. Get real
This entire thread is exactly right about what’s happening at Edinburgh.
🧵A political/media guide to the "truth" about net-zero
1) Add up costs to install & run a net-zero energy system
2) Pretend fossil-fuelled alternatives wld be free
3) Do say "eco zealots are bankrupting us"
4) Don't say "free cars if we scrap net-zero" cos it sounds ridiculous
5) That's it!

Wait did #wato just compare Chamberlain’s WW2 behaviour to Labour’s change of mind on pubs? Amazing. So lazy it reaches to specious.
