Profile view of the next-generation Nissan Juke, which looks like a low-LOD model from a 25-year-old racing game
This new Juke is gonna look so good when it gets closer to the camera and renders all the way in...
Hardcore GT fans know this story. But one of my favorite underrated parts of my job is sharing what most people don’t know, and preserving what might not necessarily be new, because we’ll forget it if we let ourselves.
Also, I love digging through 30-year-old Next Gen interviews.
I've been listening to a bunch of Time Extend episodes this week - and they're all gold.
If you haven't subscribed yet - why?
Daryl! ❤️❤️❤️
Racing game fans care more about banking future video essays on "underrated racing game x/ racing game you've never heard of" than supporting original ideas
Unfortunately, it's not budget in terms of the pricetag - so if it punches at that weight class it needs to be judged in that weight class....
- People seem unsure of the control scheme, and the lack of a demo doesn't help. 2h may not be enough to get a hang of it.
- The mindset of "dollars per hour" in pricing hurts Screamer, even though it does have a lot of content
- People wanted a story, but don't like VNs I guess
Hope y’all like middling Horizon clones because that’s all you’re gonna get if you keep refusing to show up for anything even the slightest bit out of the ordinary! ☺️
Screamer hasn't been a hit out of the gate, with middling word of mouth and a very low player count for a new release.
A sign of the times in terms of the appetite for full-price AAA arcade racing games that aren't Horizon; or a confused release strategy from Milestone?
Same in the UK; shit loads of copies for like £3. 😂
Returning to it at age 32 for this episode, "fun and a little hard" is still exactly how I would describe it as well! 😂
❤️❤️❤️
Great convo on a charming racing game we’ve covered. Give it a listen!
In 1997, Genki released a racing game. Not that racing game—it was called Multi Racing Championship for the N64. Far as we can tell, nobody bought it. We already talked about it once, five years ago. Now we're talking about it again. We're not entirely sure why. Anyway, new episode.

Grand Prix Challenge on PS2
Been playing a little bit of Grand Prix Challenge (Melbourne House, PS2, 2003) at the recommendation of my @extendti.me cohosts in the evenings, and it's ridiculously impressive. Knocked me right back on my coal-minin' ass, as the kids say. I have a favorite F1 game and it might be invincible.
It’s a really great feeling when a game comes out of nowhere and single-handedly gives you hope for an entire genre. Milestone should be so proud of what they’ve achieved here.
DLSS5 🔥🔥🔥
What happens when you grant Time Extend Studios a AAAA budget to develop the racing game of its dreams? Four—well, at least, three—very unique pitches. "Inventing Our Own Racing Games" is live!

Top 9 list of games that includes World Racing, Simple 1500 The Racing, Total Drivin', Driving Emotion Type-S, Go Vacation, AeroGauge, Hresvelgr, GT Pro Series, and Hang-On GP '95.
Straight classics top to bottom
Driveclub still catching strays even though I’d still take it over almost every racing game released since without question
Reception to this episode has been fun to read; if you've listened and want to share your own stories/thoughts - don't forget we have a Discord. 🤙

Oooh, that's cool!!
February 14 2000, Ridge Racer 64 debuted on the N64 in the Americas!
Though the game draws heavily from Ridge Racer (PS1) and Ridge Racer Revolution, the 64 version does have an exclusive Renegade series of desert tracks and the "Ultra 64" race car, a shout-out to the N64's original name!
We'd love to say there's a Beetle Adventure Racing for every Volvo: Drive for Life, but our exploration of games based around a single automaker's products mostly turned up stuff that's not worth playing. We suffered so you don't have to. "One Make Racing Games" is live!
Good afternoon - I bring some good news.
You might be crap at SEGA Rally Championship 1995; but you'll never be as crap as The Weeknd is at SEGA Rally Championship 1995.
Is it even possible to be dead last that far into the Desert track?!
