The new ban on weapons in public places in Berlin has already been used to justify no-cause stop-and-search in several train stations, mostly ones in its more working-class and Arab neighbourhoods. It’s also anticipated that it’ll be used to perform searches after pro-Palestinian demonstrations.

This is an enormous story. Thankful that ProPublica has pursued it so well, especially considering the way other media have snoozed. (While embracing Afrikaners as genocide victims, no less.) www.propublica.org/article/trum...
Once again it is time to email our representatives, TDs and MEPs, to remind them how awful breaking encryption would be. Not only for the individual, but for the state. (It's worse for the individual, but it being bad for the state might actually win the argument, this time, again...)
The suburb where I live has 1 crematorium, 3 undertakers and multiple stonemasons whose specialty is gravestones. Nothing wrong w being in the pocket of Big Death, just def different from if this were e.g. a fishing tourist town.

January 27 is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Today was chosen because Jan 27th, 1945 is the date the Red Army liberated thousands of remaining prisoners in Auschwitz. Here are a few books we recommend on the subject
At 8 days I’m starting to get genuinely uneasy at this hopefully-a-bit

Germany is, and I say this advisedly, an absolutely demented place to be right now.
Having confirmed that this fact-check is neither hoax nor satire, I am now wondering in what exact sense the British won the battle of Trafalgar.

The same inline skate shown at a 3/4 angle, from the back
Still sketching the right level of sharing for this platform, but anyway I skate and I got a new(via secondhand) setup and am very excited to try it out once it stops raining, March perhaps
Was thrilled to be able to help out with tech and recording—will post a link to the finished podcast when it’s published, was a really clear and thoughtful chat (though I’m clearly biased)

I wish there was more clarity on where we’re supposed to do public networking and where we’re supposed to show how much the gym is paying off.
If a machine makes money on its own (nonsense; see labour theory of value) then it passes new Turing test. Incredible mask off moments, but we're apparently so capitalism pilled that when the emperor stands before us butt naked, we're like "oh nice robes." www.noemamag.com/artificial-g...

Travelling alone is strange, because since all my friends are in my phone it’s been less Steppenwolf and more “let’s catch up on all the personal correspondence I missed the last while”, but I’ve also been filling up my sketchbook and that’s nice
My hostel in Wrocław did, indeed, have a smokestack beside the Indian restaurant slash nightclub under its window, and much like the reviewer here I was all for this canny multipurposing of urban space
For fun? Don’t get cocky now
Hello, I’m back.
