I wonder if it’s an issue with getting high levels of power to these otherwise pretty remote places? 🤷🏻‍♀️

The government could demand that all servos on highways have a charger. Problem solved. Successive governments have not planned this at all.

Happy birthday to #geochemist Charles David Keeling (1928 - 2005) 🧪🐡⚒️ #histsci whose decades long observations of CO2 in air samples from Mauna Loa Observatory were some of the 1st direct data to show the human contribution to greenhouse effect & global warming. True. I have reviewed papers that despite what’s said are clearly full
Of AI slop and I happily reject them. Agreed. It is a waste of our time

I’ve used it to say “ reduce abstract from 250 to 200 words” and it’s come up with some interesting solutions - that i then rewrite

1 day ago 1 0 0 0

What if AI like copilot was used to condense the abstract? Word always had a summarise function and this is essentially the same . Of that is then edited by the authors I see no problem. If we have a blanket “no” one result could drive more insidious use underground

*the festival was fantastic - I’ll be going to the next one in 2 years, hopefully with improved charging options

I drove to Cavendish in west Vic for the Red Gum Festival. Charging stations are not on the highway but in quiet car parks in towns with no toilets or cafes, and in the dark - not female friendly. I used the ‘facilities’ offered by bushes and gutters. Yet we have fabulous highway stops! #AusPol #EV

I drove an EV for three days. It saved me money but cost me time With no end in sight to soaring fuel prices, 7.30 decided to take an EV for a test drive to see how far it could take our reporter, and if Australia's EV charging network stacks up.

So true. “driving in Australia … you'll find a service station…The same can't be said of EV chargers” - so why not make service centres have a few chargers? #AusPol #EV www.abc.net.au/news/2026-04...

This post was prompted by hearing from a former AFE who is starting their own lab, yay! If you've been in one of these mentored programs and have moved on, drop me a line and I'll update my spreadsheet. Or drop me a line just to say hi 😀.
