In 1994, I took a lot of heat for this speech warning that the American middle class was in danger. Watch and tell me if I was wrong. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bnd0eSuxu84

We’re not asking men like Malachi to feel shame over violence against women but we need change Malachi O’Doherty’s recent article in the Belfast Telegraph, written in response to the murder of Natalie McNally, is an unnecessary intervention.

A response to Malachi O'Doherty's recent article.

The way that the protestors are out with whistles as a way of alerting their neighbours reminds me of the women who used to come onto the streets and clatter their bin lids on the road. They too were beaten off the streets by the army and police. Some were shot with plastic bullets. Same old story

It was a privilege to speak on "The Gifts of Trauma Podcast" - I hope that people find some seeds of hope in my long journey of recovery and growth after trauma.

1. This is a thread on freedom, and how easy it is to lose.

Over the past 2,000 years in Europe, there have been few periods and places of freedom. For much of the time we lived under highly oppressive tyrannies of various kinds, whether small or grand, local or imperial, secular or religious.🧵

Thanks Jakki. It took a long time to make sense, to find meaning in what happened to us but me and my family got there. I was lucky to have support, love, kindness, and time. Wishing you the same on your journey.

... which only interviewed the gunmen, and took their word for it. To be told by Hugh that some of the things they said should not have been included was helpful. Puts something that had been bugging me for a while to bed. 2/2

An article in yesterday's Sunday World putting the record straight. The headline about me experiencing "traumatising flashbacks" is very misleading though. I'm fine. But it was good to speak to Hugh Jordan to correct the lies that were put out in a book he and another journalist wrote... 1/2

‘WAVE, By the Sea’ had the pleasure of hosting two very successful trauma therapy retreats in November. Feedback from participants has been amazing. Please contact your Outreach Caseworker for more information on upcoming dates in 2025.

Two amazing outings this week for Towards Inclusion Groups in Armagh and Belfast. The Armagh Group visited Navan Fort on Tuesday were they learnt all about the origin of Ard Macha (Armagh) and on Wednesday the Belfast Group learnt how to trace their ancestors at the Public Records Office.

We had such a lovely, warm, happy and packed house for our annual fund raising coffee morning. It was lovely to see people reconnecting and enjoying some well earned down time away from all the hustle and bustle. So nice to see everyone and to see so many people going away winners from our draw.

We are hosting our annual Night of Remembrance on Thu 5 Dec (6-8pm). We are aware of how difficult Christmas can be for people grieving the loss of a loved one. We will be lighting up the garden with 3800 lights representing all those lost through the Troubles. Warm food and drinks will be served.

My Monday Motivation from Belfast.

So sad to hear of Big Ken Reid's death. Used to enjoy having a chat with him up in the lobby of Stormont when we were up there campaigning. He'd always be sitting on the wee benches. Took a keen interest in us. Few sleggins over Everton too. One of the good ones.
