🌊 What is the Meridional Overturning Circulation
and why is it important?
The Meridional Overturning Circulation (#MOC) – critical for transporting heat, carbon, oxygen and nutrients across the globe – is weakening under climate change.

We have a new paper in Science Advances on seasonal movements of the sub-Arctic seafloor. Using sub-annual bathymetry, porewater data, and moored sensors, we observed the seabed expanding and contracting through freeze–thaw cycles, forming seasonal frost blisters.

I am very lucky to be in Cambridge Bay in the Canadian Arctic to teach (and learn from!) students of the "Arctic Future Pathfinders" interdisciplinary course organized by the @uitnorgesarktiske.bsky.social.
More importantly I learned so much from the community!
