I think it also depends on what the popular choice is in your area. I’m in a very rural area but Meshtastic is popular all around me, I can hear plenty but can’t seem to be heard unless very local.
I am thinking I’ll reflash my devices for MeshCore just to see how it goes.

Not sure how far the range goes for meeting your technical requirements but I’ve found the GLiNeT openwrt routers really great bang for buck. I’ve mainly looked that their portable mini routers which I use in my IT kit bag.

I wonder what your thoughts would be on a similar project, @meshcentral.bsky.social? It was fairly straight forward to get going, but there’s more configuration out of the box before you can really use it in production. I’ve set it up for family and friend support.
That way an offending IP is blocked both at the application and the firewall instantly. It also works great when the application is accessed via reverse proxy, assuming you pass the origin IP in the headers. I’m using HA proxy on the same #pfSense box. 🔥

While not in official repos yet, I’ve had a go at getting #crowdsec @crowdsec.bsky.social installed on my pfsense box and then using that as the local API for another service on a #Debian LXC registered as a collector & bouncer for the same instance.

We’ve started migrating customers off of ESXI and onto Proxmox as our recommended solution/replacement. I’m curious to see how viable this might be as a service provider to seamlessly manage and maintain an overview of customer clusters.
