The First Time With... - Marianne Faithfull - BBC Sounds Another chance to hear Marianne Faithfull discussing the music that changed her life.

Following the hugely sad news about #MarianneFaithfull our First Time show from @BBC6Music in 2011 is back on @BBCSounds It was obviously wonderful being able to record a programme and talk about music with her. She was amazing.

Watching The Beatles’ Get Back again (because, obviously, always…) and a totally accidental pause resulted in this screenshot of Glyn Johns and, well. Wow.

Chest Fever - Remixed 2018 The Band · Music From Big Pink (Deluxe Edition/Remixed 2018) · Song · 1968

At a time when we need them, we’ve lost another genius. If you can, maybe play this loud.

Each member of The Band was essential. Perhaps Levon was soul, Robbie ambition, Richard heart and Rick reminded everyone to let go and not give a f*ck. But Garth? Who could play anything and everything? Maybe he was the spirit. The unusual one, the one closest to the divine source of music.

This feels deep. Farewell Garth Hudson, the very last surviving member of The Band - perhaps THE great American group. A while ago we drove out down long, icy roads through snow and forests just to spend a moment at Big Pink. Just to see one of the places The Band did their thing.

The First Time With... - David Lynch - BBC Sounds David Lynch discusses his musical milestones with Matt Everitt. First broadcast in 2013.

David Lynch’s @bbc6music.bsky.social First Time show from 2013 has been put back up on @bbcsounds.bsky.social. Interviewing your heroes is often a mistake, but in this case it was exactly as strange, surprising and wonderful as I could have ever wanted. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

All I knew was the poster, and it fascinated me. Then Channel 4 broadcast Eraserhead late at night in the mid-80s so I taped it on VHS. Watching it, the day after, was life-changing. It’s never left me. I was terrified and entranced. I never knew it was possible to make films of dreams. #davidlynch

I don’t know why people find Dry January hard. Mine is going great. So far today I’ve had 3 glasses of dry white wine, 2 pints of dry cider and a dry martini.

Franks n’ Artra. Double act crooners. Turns out, just one chap. Does that count?
