@garyseconomics.bsky.social Thankyou for shining a light on the policies that are maintaining poverty and poor living standards amongst the working and middle classes and against the most vulnerable in our society. This is not OK. Change is needed! #SocialJustice #BluSkyEPs @shocktigan.bsky.social
This was a really thought provoking piece from Ruth - though I am still uncertain where I sit with the term 'social prescribing' - I fear that to some extent, it medicalises community, the natural world, connection, volunteering, music, the arts etc.
Great to your thoughts too colleagues :)
Something has to change and we all have a part to play
I have subscribed for years Sean, your work is so valuable. The impact of poverty on children and families has been devastating and it’s getting worse.
Where is the protest at what is happening? @thatpovertyguy.bsky.social
Blackburn with Darwen’s EP Team are planning to deliver training to all our special schools from September. Have any of my fellow EPs developed ELSA training for special schools? If so, could we please connect? 🤓🌞
Surely British people cannot tolerate these policies anymore! Our families and children have been living in abject poverty for 15 years +. Poverty = need, its a simple as that #edpsychs
Check this out in one of our Blackburn with Darwen schools. A book vending machine! How cool. And what fun and value it places on books:-) oh it’s made my day 🌞🤓💓📚👦🚸 cute
Happy social prescribing day!

front cover of 'How the West Indian Child is Made Educationally Sub-normal in the British School System' by Bernard Coard
in 1971, Bernard Coard's book exposed how 'Schools for the Educationally Subnormal' framed Black children as allegedly linguistically and intellectually deficient, and incapable of participating in mainstream education. its continued relevance means it should be compulsory reading for all teachers.
#edpsychs As part of our research on the DEdPsy course at UEL, colleagues and I are seeking participants for our research into EPs’ values and their impact on use of assessment tools. EPs working in the UK are eligible to take part and we would be so grateful! forms.office.com/e/kbDBmm9nWc
#BlueskyEPs Look what joy arrived today to our EP base 😝🤓⭐️All the way from Prof Tzuriel eek!

That’s the one! Ha, made me giggle that
Yes of course Keith, I tend to give them the raised eyebrow look. I don’t do it on purpose, just happens naturally 👀😆
Hallelujah for that!
If only…imagine? Especially in high schools…credit to Dr Joanne the Neurodivergent EP #BluSkyEPs
Made me giggle 😝
If you only read one @headteacherupdate.bsky.social article this week: Engaging with credible evidence & #research is not easy for teachers & schools. The great @thatpovertyguy.bsky.social explores how #schools can make research more accessible for #teachers & #teaching: buff.ly/3Cz2stx #edusky
Take some time for rest and recovery. It can be a long and perilous journey towards the doctorate, I was successful my 3rd year applying, some in my cohort were 4/5 years. Good luck to you, Kate!
This looks fab
ADHD north west are good they offer parent online workshops (free) and resources/support for schools. They also create the brilliant resource ‘the umbrella gang’ which is an animated story aimed at celebrating the strengths of ADHD with children and young people
To all my TEP colleagues 😍
