We might not be defending our country directly but we are sure a H going to defend our service men and women.
Part of that defense is, IMO, making sure they have food and know without question that Americans have their backs and support them.

Many of them never pull a trigger as part of their daily duties. There are thousands upon thousands of non combat careers in the military.
I understand your frustration. I really do.
However, the vast majority of enlisted men and women are serving for myriad reasons. Honor, Country, Duty of course. Beyond that, are help with college expenses and such.
Disobeying any order, illegal or no, is a very serious risk for these
men/women.
