Make of this what you will, but my (Republican) in-law in exurban Virginia told us last week that they followed Obama’s advice in their redistricting vote. I thought they meant the disingenuous ads that made it seem like he was a “No.”
They meant his *actual* position. They had voted Yes.
Victory! WABA celebrated their legal victory over the Trump regime. The 15th St bike lane is safe for now

I have to think the President very directly inserting himself into the redistricting referendum and telling people he will lose power if it passes can’t make the No folks very happy.
It’s gonna be a good day

Staying in Virginia and have been regularly bombarded by this anti-21 ad featuring this MAGA-looking woman who has the world’s smuggest, most punchable face and I hope voters here pass 21 just to piss off MAGA Angie.
Do I…invest it in an interest-bearing account and enjoy the added cushion it provides to my anticipated retirement savings? Probably.
Also might leave it because it’s likely drug money, which has some potentially negative externalities.
We should not and cannot ever stop recognizing the injustice and shame that is having Guard troops roaming our city for absolutely no reason.

“Man, it’d really be a shame if this under built, underutilized Metro-adjacent land were destroyed by a bike lane.”
Bars in Washington, DC had been struggling since Covid. So why are the city’s Democrats so eager to get rid of Pete Hegseth, Kash Patel, and Jeanine Pirro?
What?! Those were the only ones I ever bought!

It remains unbelievable that amount of credibility offered to him by pundits and the national media writ large, as if the last ten years—or, hell, his entire public life—didn’t happen.
I don’t want to start any blasphemous rumors
But I think that God’s got a sick sense of humor
And when I die I expect to find him laughing
The Kennedy Center is being wrecked because Trump stuck his name on it and made it so toxic that no artist wanted to play there, and so he decided that if he couldn’t enjoy it no one should and he dismantled it.
Heartbreaking description of the pointless, thoughtless damage being done to the Kennedy Center. It was such an important part of life in Washington, and is now being destroyed for no reason

Won’t someone please think of the EMS vehicles that are now physically barred from accessing that stretch of road?
I might suggest that the Cybertruck was never intended to appeal to everyday buyers, but rather to a subset of buyers who wish to signal what the Cybertruck represents. And that is by definition a finite group of people.

DC freed enslaved people nine months before the rest of the country even considered it. Leadership is foundational to who we are. Let’s lead the way again and put people first.
Happy Emancipation Day!
