Oh yes..... so true. Thankfully there is plenty of choice (at least in the UK) so that we can avoid a Swasticar.

I try not to lecture people about EVs. I am on my second, but everyone will pick their own time to start on that road (no pun intended). It will be different for everybody.

I always recommend having a test drive if you can. That's what persuaded me to change, even if it then took 2 years to do it.

"Solar surge:" China smashes PV export records as energy crisis fast-tracks fossil fuel exodus New data reveals staggering new record-high exports from global solar powerhouse, China, as scores of countries – including Australia – import record amounts of PV.

It's beautiful to see the response to the illegal war in the Middle East: lots more solar panels around the world to reduce the need for fossil fuels.

Electric car sales soar 51% in mainland Europe as Iran war drives up fuel prices Data shows 224,000 new EVs were registered in March, with Norway leading way in terms of switching

If you are buying a new car now, why go for the (more expensive) polluting option?

EVs are now on average cheaper to buy than ICEs, and definitely lower on running costs. They are nicer to drive and better for the environment.

Average new UK electric car price is now lower than petrol vehicles Autotrader says average EV cost is £785 cheaper, in an important milestone in the move away from fossil fuels

It was bound to happen .... and it's good that we have now got past that psychological hurdle.

Of course EVs are much cheaper to run as long as you have access to domestic charging or equivalent.

EV batteries usually last longer than the car: Now they are being re-used to power the grid Deal to build the biggest utility-scale battery using only second life EV batteries heralds a potential flex point for electric car makers, and the grid.

What a sensible use of 'retired' EV batteries. Still lots of value in them before they are recycled.

Renewables hit 80 pct share in Australia's most coal dependent grid for first time The share of renewables in Australia's most coal dependent grid hit 80 per cent for first time, driven largely by solar, as big batteries hit new gigawatt milestones.

It really doesn't matter what the QLD government tries to do. Rooftop solar and batteries will make coal plants uneconomic to run. Existing grid-scale wind and solar will compound the problem. Renewables are the only way forward.
